On the way back from visiting Mrs Aardvark in hospital, I required rehydration from several hours in the sauna like atmosphere of the Royal Berkshire. Cue Copas.
I wasn't expecting a lot being in the a@se end of Chav town, but am pleasantly surprised.
The bar is spacious, comfy and clean. The staff friendly, the beer cheaper than home and the terrace overlooking the murky river itself overlooked by a mouldering office block is a decent place to enjoy a lung torpedo.
Compared to the surrounding area, this place is actually a bit of an oasis.
Worth popping in between hospital and station.
I read a review of this bar elsewhere & wasn't expecting too much on our Friday early evening visit a ccouple of months back!
I was pleasently surprised. Not exactly a beer lover's haven but the pint I had was quite drinkable. We found the place to be lively with a nice buzz to it. We sat in the rear rotunda part, looking across the canal. I recall a reasonable range of lagers & they appeared to do a range of bar food
We organised a baby shower in the pub. The entire experience was so easy and lovely. The mum to be loved it!
We had our own area, the staff was always very friendly and available for any requests and they were flexible to accommodate our changes, requirements etc.
The food was lovely. We ordered food and drinks in advance so it was ready on arrival and then added to the order during the event. They were very ready and helpful to catered to some of our special dietary requirements.
The location is also lovely, just by the river, with an outside area.
I would definitely recommend The Outlook for events and also just for a meal or a drink.
Great drinks selection and great atmosphere. I have visited a few times for the monthly Drag shows run by Iota Events in the downstairs bar. Lovely to see the bar supporting and providing a space for the queer scene in Reading
I have recently attended a function at the Outlook. The Food and service were good, unfortunately the bar downstairs did not have much on beer/lager on draft and was not stocked very well with other drinks we wanted, meaning we walked back upstairs to the main bar.
We walked in to have an afternoon tea and ordered 5 mix & share pub plates. They are nice little dishes and tasty. Our table is close to the windows facing river side. Nice view and quiet. The waiter is very helpful and friendly. Order was made easily via apple App. Definitely we will visit again.
Food is absolutely delicious (definitely recoment the cheesy chips) and the atmosphere is brilliant! Everyone is lovely and the drag nights are gorgeous!! Everyone gets on so well and just amazing in general, it's so fun!
A nice pub, pleasing understated interior, a couple of Greene King beers on the bar.
I attended an open mike night here as my sons' band was playing. There is a separate area for this, away from the main bar, in the basement. There is also a court yard outside. Good atmosphere and an enjoyable evening
Located on the river Kennet (I think) which overlooks the water. Pub is spread across 2 floors and has a wide ranging menu to choose from. Not far from large organisations like Visa & Prudential away from the town centre ...but a short walk away from the frazzle dazzle. Bonus touch is they allow dogs which just adds to the atmosphere of an open door policy where everyone is welcome.
Comfortable pub with a very nice atmosphere. I enjoyed the seats by the window where you can see the River Kennett and the surrounding architecture. All round pleasant experience.
Great location with lovely staff. Enjoyed a leaving drink with a group of work colleagues. Only negative would be place needs a deep clean e.g sticky Bannister's, toilets need a refurb.
