Reviews The Hollybush

I don't normally write reviews on food as I have health problems and haven't been able to eat anything not cooked at home in many years. Tonight I braved one of your chicken strip and chips baskets and I'm so very glad I did as it was the nicest meal I've eaten in a long time. We ordered by phone after speaking to a lovely gentleman and it was prepared fresh at the last minute. The lovely lass behind the bar was polite and fetched our food which was piping hot, the chicken was moist and tender and the chips were just the right combination of crispy and fluffy. Absolute heaven. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his scampi and chips basket too. We will definitely be back. Xx

This lovely little old time pub with a fantastic atmosphere is amazing. The menu is varied and if you don't have anything else you MUST try the vegetable soup. It is truly a gastronomical delight. Well done to the owners and staff, you are doing an amazing job x

What an excellent way to spend lunchtime. Great Live Trad Jazz from The Redbourn Jazz Band accompanied by George on drink distribution! Will try lunch next time. Looked very appealing and was recommended by others dining. All in all a brilliant, well run country pub!👍👍

Really enjoy going to this pub, lovely little old place and friendly members of staff. Kids enjoy the garden, the bouncy castle they put up on selected days is great too. They could spend a bit of money on the apparatus in the garden as it is very old now. But the location is excellent, tucked away on a side street in the beautiful village of Redbourn. Always a joy to come here. Keep up the great work

Food was good. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was lively. Difficult to find but worth it when you do. Liked everything about it apart from dogs being allowed in as I am allergic to them. Pleasant evening.

We had a great time at this local pub! We were a very large party, coming in late on Sunday lunch with no booking. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, both to our lack of planning and the large amount of children in our party! We camped outside, the kids enjoyed the play area and we scarfed down the delicious food. I would definitely come back here again! The roast was scrumptious, we didn't have any desserts (too full!) but I saw a few passing around and they looked delicious too.

Paid a visit to this village pub whilst visiting family, we were welcomed by a very friendly lady named Liz and her colleague whose name I didn’t catch. The menu is varied and interesting, all 6 of us ordered something different and all were delicious , will definitely return when next in the area .

Nice country pub, friendly staff and tasty food. Unfortunately not everyone likes dogs...especially in a small area where you are eating, I'd recommend the owners look to have 2 eating areas one where dogs can continually whine and pant (which we encountered throughout our meal with neighbouring table!) and an area with no "pets" it was also a beautiful day so the owners of said dog should of stayed out in the beautiful garden area where "dogs" should be. Would return but would complain next time if the same scenario......

Really lovely country pub, tucked away next to the Grade 1 listed St Mary’s Church. Had an amazing Sunday roast lamb lunch - both quality and quantity - which is unusual for most pubs - and at a really good price for the area. Really friendly staff, great service and a lovely environment. The garden is also a lovely summertime space. Definitely the best pub in Redbourn. COVID Update: Visited today for Sunday Lunch. Covid measures really well adhered to and yet another great lunch! Still, most definitely, the most ‘proper’ pub in Redbourn!

Stubble across this little gem of a pub whilst visiting the area. Great "proper" pub. The landlord was extremely friendly. Lovely beer called Lantern Ale, brewed especially for them. Immediately booked for dinner at the weekend. No nonsense, pub faire at reasonable prices. Really worth seeking out.

I came here on Saturday 24th June for my mum's 90th birthday. It was booked by my brother, who lives nearby as I'd asked him to book somewhere special. The beer was a bit expensive, but the quality of the food made up for it. As a starter, i had Temprer prawns, and the main was the full rack of ribs, although my brothers eyes were bigger than his belly, and he struggled to eat it all. The service was good, and the carpark was palatial with plenty of free space.

I had dinner here on Saturday evening with a large group who had been out all day in the fresh air so we were ready for good food and a comfortable evening and the Hollybush was great. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and the pub atmosphere was active without being loud.
