Review The Crispy Cod - Rhondda

This chip shop/restraunt establishment is very well run. I had Haddock and my wife had the Chicken platter and we were both very impressed with the quality. The chips were crispy yet fluffy inside, a rare combination these days. The restaurant area was beautifully clean and the toilets were spotless! If the public toilets are clean then I think you can always take it as a given that the kitchen area will be the same. The hand dryer wasn't working but apart from they were perfect. THAT'S RARE. The young lass who served us was polite and seemed genuinely interested that we were enjoying our meal. In my time in south Wales I've yet to find a better fish and chip shop. RECOMMENDED *Update 11-4-22* Returned today as we found out that the seated resturaunt area is now open again. Happy to report that the food is every bit as good as before and we really enjoyed our meal there. The hand dryer is now working too 😆 Well done Crisp Cod. STILL RECOMMENDED.

Great fish/chip shop! Food is delicious and the lamb and mint rissole are to die for! Highly recommended

We have visited the Crispy Cod on several occasions and we have never been disappointed with the quality of the food and service There is a take away at the front of the premises with a comfortable licensed seated eat in area at the rear There is a varied menu with several different types of fish and other meals all superbly cooked and freshly prepared with generous portions all served with a smile The food here is simply outstanding and simply delicious We love this place and we highly reccomend it ! Been wanting to visit for ages, managed to pick up one of their seafood platters for New Years Eve. Fantastic quality fresh seafood. Loved everything. Can't wait to visit in the future for some Fish & Chips

Had the seafood platter as a treat for my birthday and it did not disappoint!!!the lobster was out of this world...and everything else was so fresh and tasty, sourced from West Wales!!!would highly recommend!!!not your average fish shop...very innovative with the menu!!!the fish and chips are awesome too!!!

Really enjoyed food at the crispy cod today, it was just what we needed. My mum been off her food a little and this definitely helped her appetite, we all had the Hake and it was beautiful. We will be back. If I could give any constructive comments it would just be it was a little bit cold in the restaurant. Note to owner I really think something could be done on your website to promote the DINE IN as it is not that obvious unless you already knew like we did. I can't understand how with such beautiful food being served and we were the only people sitting in, people are missing out. Probably the only other small negative thing would be we couldn't have a hot drink as the drinks machine was broken and they don't own a kettle, I did find that strange, sorry. Will definitely be back though, we wouldn't let that stop us.

Crispy Cod in Gelli is our favourite fish and chips takeaway and delivery, but we thought we'd eat in one Sunday when we didn't fancy cooking. The restaurant is bright and airy and spotlessly clean. We were greeted warmly and given the menu blackboard. We both chose the haddock and chips, and it was a beautiful bit of fish, dazzlingly white flesh, golden and crispy batter, piles of proper chips and absolutely not greasy. Huge portions and you could taste how fresh the fish was. Superb!

Very good service and food fish and chips at top end give it try new one coming soon at the old Bute pup Pontyclun so give big shams a miss and go there much better

They have a nice menu some different options which is lovely to see. The food is always a great quality, we have been several times now at different times of the day and never has any issues..The staff are very polite and always smiling it's a bit of a trek for us but we will always keep going back , you must try this place I recommend it ☺️

Always epic. From their fish and chips to their seafood platters and now fish market. Crispy Cod & The Rock & Scallop bring pure joy to my life having such easy access to the taste of the sea. Mathew and the team are 6* and absolutely amazing and love how they being the sea to the land and to our taste buds. Highly recommend them for everything they do.

Visited this evening and the food is amazing. We had regular cod chips and fish cake.. fish cake is the best we have ever had. Lots of choice on the menus and all seemed to be cooked fresh to order. We will return when next in the area

The Valleys have many fine chip shops, but this is one of the best! The food is always fresh, piping hot, and cooked to perfection, and the portions are generous, representing excellent value for money. Even in the midst of a national crisis, the staff are efficient and friendly, and they also accept card payments, which makes life a lot easier when cashpoints are hard to find.

The food here was absolutely fantastic best fish and chips I have ever tasted was no grease , presentation was outstanding owner Matthew was lovely and his staff , will highly recommend the Crispy Cod Gelli and be visiting again 10/10 .xxxx

Just ordered the salt & pepper squid � & it was delicious � I’ve just had an operation & the only food I can eat from the fish shop is fish so I thought I would give it a try, the squid was super yummy & I will definitely be back for more ��

Lovely food every time I have tryed everything On the menu there is nothing I wouldn't recommend. Chicken burgers are my fave at the moment and the shop is always clean and spotless. Xxxxxx

We were fish shop owners many moons ago and we know how difficult it can be cooking fresh foods ..and what prep has to be completed daily and end of play so that every thing is cleaned and up too a very high Standard otherwise it cannot be served Crispy Cod has excelled in this as all the Staff have been fully trained in Hygiene and they are Proud to maintain the Quality and Quantity that has enabled Mathew and co to be the best Well done as we would never go anywhere else for our delicious meals

I went there for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago and I was very pleased. I had sausage in batter, chips and fruity curry sauce. The batter on the sausage was lovely and crispy and lots of it, just how I like and the curry sauce was lovely. I love fruity curry sauce but it's hard to find a chip shop that sells it unfortunately so I'm glad I've found one that does. I will definitely return �

Just had the baked pie meal, the portions were amazing and the steak pie is one of the best, I would definitely recommend it�
