We came as we were staying at the hotel. The food was tasty and the set menu wasn't bad value, cocktails were also nice, the red wine we picked was over priced for the quality we felt.
Issues here are the lighting / vibe just aren't great cause the spotlights are too strong and it's not busy. Main issue is once it gets past 10pm (even though the bar area is open till 12) the staff all seemed to stop coming to tables and really only focus on cleaning up and setting up for the morning. We were sat finishing our wine and they were sweeping and moving rubbish around which wasn't great. We asked (as they were cleaning) should we move to the bar to be out of the way or should we leave and they said stay and have another drink but then no one came to take that order for a long time or make the drinks or eventually do the bill... Just a bit meh.
We popped in for a late brunch. Service was excellent and friendly. No issues with then giving us a table without a reservation unlike the hotel next door.
We sat outside in quite a lovely garden with nice comfortable furniture. Everything felt very clean and new.
Food was quite good but not excellent. We only had brunch items with a couple of sides. If I had to complain about anything is that the toast under the avo and poached eggs was so tiny they tried to hide the fact with kale.
The drinks menu was extensive and not overly priced considering the area. Sadly we didn't have time for drinks but will definitely have some next time.

We had an excellent experience at The Gate Richmond as part of a package with Harbour Hotel and Spa. The food is excellent and the environment beautiful. Like other harbour hotels they have an eclectic range of artwork . Service was great too.
I have been to The Gate Restaurant many times and I love the food and the atmosphere! My favourite food is the cheese soufflé with haddock. Last time I have been there, a waitress called Gabriela looked after me and my friends and she was very kind. Thanks!
After our relaxing walk in Richmond Park 🌳🌴🌲🌿🌱🍀🦌🦌we arrived at The Gate for a wonderful Saturday lunch in the garden 🪴☀️…this is a very beautiful restaurant with great service and a beautiful atmosphere ❤️ we enjoyed our time here felt extremely spoiled with delicious food and creative drinks 🍹🍸❤️🙌🏻
We had a large group of us for afternoon tea and the service and food was amazing! They catered for all dietary requirements and everything was so smooth. The decor and garden are stunning! Couldn't recommend more.
Had the set lunch menu, the onglet steak was very tasty, though maybe a little chewy for some tastes. The oxtail was to die for. Very pleasant ambiance, only drawback, it's noisy if your hearing is challenged.
Such an amazing place! Stayed in the hotel, was really easy to organise a table for dinner. Staff was lovely and the food was wow! Highly recommend to pop in if you are in the neighbourhood!! Dessert has been brought up to my room.

We’ve been eating Sunday lunch In every restaurant,pub in Richmond for years,however,missed this beautiful place,wonderful food and beautiful terrace for outside summer dining.will definitely be back,the staff were so helpful attentive and food was absolutely cooked to perfection
I think this was one of the best places I have eaten. Had a family celebration meal. Staff were very attentive but not 'in your face'. The menu was varied with good choice and the food was delivered quickly and was really tasty. The restaurant was well decorated.
