Everyone needs to go here at least once in their lifetime! It is beautiful, tranquil and interesting. We visit monthly as we live nearby. Entrance is included in National Trust membership. On Saturdays in October you can visit in the dark and experience the amazing abbey by floodlight. You can easily spend a whole day here. Dogs are allowed. There is an on site cafe and gift shop. Lots of photo opportunities. Lots of places for a picnic and bird watching. There is a weekly park run. Extensive children’s play area.

Expensive (£45 for 2 adults and 1child), but impressive. Very nice grounds, interesting things to see, and the huge abbey ruins. Lacks a museum with plenty of info and history: the visitor centre is very large but really only a shop, tickets, and toilets. Coverage of the history and background in detail would have been appreciated. Unlikely to revisit due to high entry fee.

Wow. What a fabulous place. Beautifully maintained and accessible to everyone. A world heritage site no less. Lovely restaurant and coffee shops, One thing always puzzles me. The monks lived and prayed waiting for a voice from God to answer, yet all around, in myriad voices of nature in this beautiful place he was speaking to them, yet they heard him not.

We have been here several times as we are members and visited on this occasion to break a journey. It was much nicer than a motorway stop and we had a nice walk around. Food was good and the location is beautiful.

A place in history that gives you the feeling your still in the dark ages. Amazing architecture, really makes you want to make a time machine and kick king Henry's back side for damages to such a beautiful place.

Lovely day out with my dog, cream tea and lots of walking and exploring! Unfortunately I didn't give myself enough time to see everything so definitely will return. Bought a lovely wind-chime and biscuits 😁

Absolutely stunning! The walk around the Abbey and the gardens is beautiful! Well worth it. If you've got a National Trust card it's free to enter. They also have tea rooms, restaurant, gift shop (with plants etc) and ice cream shop and all the facilities you'd need. There is a fantastic playground for kids! Disability access seems to be really good but the area is really hilly so be prepared for steep inclines and curvy paths. Beautiful to visit.

A fantastic place to visit. Although a fairly long walk down steep hill to the ruins it's an impressive place of history. Plenty of walking to get her round the whole place so may have to go back to experience it all! Separate entrance would be better if you need wheelchair or assistance. Reasonably priced cafes for refreshments.

Beautiful place, huge area ro view, would recommend staying the night if you want to see all of it, otherwise its going to be a long day. Lovely sights and structures, parking is easy enough, keep your tickets on you if you leave the area and want to come back in. Nice little gift shop, and a couple of tea houses on the way to stop for bite to eat.

Fountains Abbey is an English Heritage as well as a National Trust site, and it's absolutely stunning. The Abbey is a few minutes walk downhill from the visitors center. The ruins themselves are breathtaking and there's an info center at the bottom where you can learn more about the history of Fountains Abbey. Once you're done exploring, you can get a coffee or tea at the cafe by the visitors center or check out the gift shop.
