We had a great evening in the pub. The staff were so helpful bringing drinks to the table. We ordered the pies. Very tasty and reasonably priced.
They allowed the dogs in and brought them treats and water.
Would definitely recommend
After reading a couple negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were unfounded and undeserved. While there may be some truth to being more welcomed if you enter with a dog as the owner is clearly a canine lover, I didn't notice anyone without a pup being forgotten about or dismissed.
This is a small area supported in equal parts tourism and local clientele, it was clear there was a clique of familiarity among the locals, but was in no way off putting. I didn't find any of the staff to be rude at all, they served us promptly and without fault.
I ordered a pizza which arrived in good time, cooked to perfection. I also noticed they do takeaway as well which clearly speaks to the popularity of their food.
My partner noticed a sign that said "no WiFi, no kids" which was such a delight to see.
I want to point out it's a small cosy venue, capable of seating somewhere around 20-30ish or so people, and upon arrival we did find ourselves waiting ten minutes or so for a table to become available, so I would recommend calling ahead to reserve a table. I tried this but failed to find a contact number on Google, probably the only negative thing I'd say about the place though that may have been down to my own technological ineptitude, so keep that in mind depending what day/time you visit it might be busy.
Great drink choices, their beer "smugglers gold" was a triumph and I would return again for that sweet nectar alone never mind its many other features.
As a final note I'll add on to anyone looking to spend a night or two, we stayed at raven hotel in ravenscar which can be seen on the cliff side from robin hoods bay, well worth a look.
In all, great little tavern, lush location, treat the locals with kindness and you'll receive it back tenfold. 10/10
Absolutely love it here. Staff are amazing. They even let me bring my own vegan cheese in so I could enjoy a pizza which was the best ive had in a long time. Made mt night even better. Thank you
This is a little gem quirky and cosy with excellent toilet facilities. The owners are really friendly and welcoming even though they were serving food at that time but offered us coffee and even catered for me with their own Oat milk
Lovely bar .The owners have done a great job refurbishing the bar while retaining the character and feel of the bar.Lovely pizza and drink served by pleasant staff.I would recommend this bar.
A great place. Cosy, atmospheric and just right for the Sunday night we visited with the Rugby World Cup quarter finals in full flow. A very friendly bar staff and locals. Leaving as the pub closed I left my coat. Returning the following I was dismayed to see the pub was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! We were leaving Tuesday morning! Luckily after a knock-on the door a super helpful cleaner opened up and between us the coat was found. Thanks so much. We will definitely be back.
Cosy, friendly, atmospheric bar right next to the sea. Perfect place to relax and enjoy a refreshing pint after a long walk from Whitby.

Cosy, dog friendly beer stop at the foot of the hill. Handpulled cask beers were Lady Luck North Pale Ale, Lady Luck Chocolate Orange Stout and Lady Luck Shipwreck Blonde. Interesting tankard and brass light fittings á la steampunk mode.
Excellent place really enjoyed it friendly staff. Very dog friendly even gave our dog treats and a log to play with😂😂. Pizza was the best we’ve had for a long time. I personally like the fact it’s very dog friendly and No under 18s. Can’t wait to go again.
Excellent pizza and pleasant atmosphere. Booking advised as seating is limited
The restaurant itself is super cozy and brimming with pirate-esque decorations. The house red wine was affordable and absolutely delicious, with a brilliant selection of beers as well including the local Whitby. We had 4 different pizzas and every single one was SUPERB. The pizzas are sizeable, flavourful, and covered in toppings. The food was practically a religious experience. On top of that, you walk out the door or sit outside and find yourself situated right next to the slipway and beach. It's perfect.
Fantastic little pub in the heart of Robin Hoods Bay. Friendly staff and also Hamish the doggo likes to say hi too! Literally a bar with a few tables but plenty of room if that makes sense? A really nice set up and would love to revisit.
While me and my partner stayed in Robin Hoods Bay this place became our new local. It is so charming with a great atmosphere. They did pizza and burgers too which looked and smelt fantastic. Great location overlooking the Bay, can’t wait to go back already!
This cosy little big ale house has a wide variety of wine, specialty beers, and fabulous food.
I popped by on the off chance for a light refreshment and was treated with the best hospitality.
The two landlords Phil and Jamie are just The absolute Best!
