Review Golden Pond - Rockbeare

Could do a little bit updating the toilets. Looking a bit tired and definitely out of date walking in there is like going back in time - approximately 50 years. Nostalgic, but probably not in a good way.... Otherwise I love the food the staff and service is excellent šŸ‘Œ šŸ‘ šŸ˜Š!

Went for a takeaway and found the restaurant to be fairly quiet. Easy to park with huge Pub car park, with ample quiet space at the back to eat your takeaway if you want. Good hygiene rules in place with wipes freely available and social distancing encouraged. Food was very good.

The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes, and the freshness is evident in every bite. Reasonable prices make it a must-visit in our neighbourhood. Highly recommended!

Good little stop wish it could have some investment and make restaurant area better. But it is what it is, prefer here rather than Chinese in Cranbrook only other choice is pinhoe.

Quirky little place on 1st impression walking into the bar / take out you may not have opted to stay but the food was great & the service was very good.

First time Iā€™ve been to The Golden Pond but it wonā€™t be the last. Iā€™ve driven past it loads of times and to be honest it does look like it could do with lick of paint outside but seeing as Iā€™m going inside to eat itā€™s not an issue. I only really mentioned it so it doesnā€™t put you off and you miss out on this hidden gem. Very friendly staff. We had the buffet for Ā£16.50, plus we went on a Eat Out to Help Out day getting a tenner off each of our meals. I think you normally serve yourself but during the pandemic they give you a menu to choose from and cook it fresh. Every dish was spot on absolutely gorgeous, just typing this review is making me hungry šŸ˜‹ It was a very busy and there was a little wait between courses but youā€™ll need that wait to let the starters go down and we had 2 lots of startersšŸ˜‹ But do not underestimate the main course. I was stuffed when I came out of there. Would have been about Ā£20 each person which is a great price for the amount and quality of food we had. But with Borisā€™s discount it was just over 40 quid for 4 people!!!! Will definitely be going back for more even at full price.

Had to contend with a bunch of blokes holding up the bar on previous visit but can't fault The Golden Pond

My family of 6 had a great evening at the Golden Pond Restaurant in Rockbeare. The service was great and the food was delicious, we ordered from the Infinity menu where you can eat as much as you like and everything was cooked just right. As the food was so nice I felt like I could really keep eating and was disappointed that I was full. The whole family was stuffed and happy. No rubber rice like most of the restaurants in Exmouth serve, it is definitely worth revisiting. The eating area was nice everything was quite clean, the ambiance of the room was a little dark in some areas but otherwise it was nice that it wasn't too bright. I think some previous reviews have been a little over critical as the concrete peacocks looked great. But as they were concrete I could see how they would look rough in the colder months when the green moss settles on them, perhaps a glaze would help to keep them looking nice all year around. The outside pond was huge and full of Coy Carp if anyone took the time to review them, the restaurant staff gave us some food to feed the fish and Wow that pond was definitely lively. The water was green as you would expect of a pond that size. A filter room to keep a pond of that size clean would have to be the size of a static caravan with several filtration systems, so the concept of filtering the pond water would simply not be viable. The fence around the pond although it was a good deterrent perhaps could use some improvement. The carpark was huge and clean what more could you want. The prices were normal for eating in at a restaurant slightly over the cost of the take out menu as you would expect. If you visit to eat in then maybe avoid the coke as the cost of this was almost the price of a pint which was Ā£4 coke and Ā£4.50 for a pint, so I don't see that the drinks are expensive either. A Pub with a Pool Table combined with a Chinese Restaurant, it's a definite win if they can keep up the great service and quality.

An excellent pub AND an excellent restaurant. Down from Glasgow again for Geek Night, and couldn't ask for a better host than Kai or a better venue than the Pond. Looking forward to coming back.

We went on a Monday which is buffet night, the food was delicious as always and a good selection. The price has jumped up considerably of late (like everything/everywhere!) Was Ā£12 a few years back per adult but last night we were charged Ā£20!! They have decorating recently which was well overdue, still a few wobbly chairs though and a few ceiling spotlights gone which gave a dim atmosphere on the dining area. Overall very good but getting expensive so special occasions only now unfortunately.

I have been driving past the place for years, meaning to give it a try (but it is a long way from where I live in Plymouth), Finally went there yesterday. The place is a pub with a bar and in the back room is the Chinese restaurant. The decor is a bit old, but the staff make up for it by being very polite, friendly and helpful. The food is very good, but not the best I ever had hence only 4 stars. I would have given 4.5 if I could have. There is a pool table which was fun to use after the meal. If you like Chinese food and a relaxed atmosphere, give this place a try.

Always wonderful food! Amazing service. Very attentive and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble when I brought my 3 year old and he made a mess... More than happy to accommodate us. I have a specific allergy, everything was properly labeled had no problems. Really happy and will be going again.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. Food was very tasty and there was a good selection of dishes at an excellent price. Eating in on a Friday was only Ā£16.99 person and we could choose as many dishes as we liked. Good social distancing between tablets too.
