Review The Golden Lion Rossett - Rossett

I was lucky enough to be taken here for a working lunch and I was mightily impressed. It’s been around a while you know! This was the first place I tried the non alcoholic gin - they had two and it was the Tanqueray I tried. I really enjoyed the food, my colleague had the same as me and we shared the whipped feta style cheese with tomato. We had to get back to work but I would have loved to have enjoyed that place some more. It was extensive and also quite busy

Good menu, excellent service and lovely busy dining pub. Some portion sizes are a little small for the price but overall very good

Superb interior, it feels like "old, good England" inside. Good food and attentive service. We enjoyed our business lunch a lot. Spacious parking place, "the only one between Chester and Wrexham" (acc. the owner) hence often misused by non-customers.

I've had a right tough day. Successful meetings in the morning but when it came to trying to return to Conwy the roads and weather were a nightmare. After getting lost in the hills I needed a toilet break, a cold Guinness and to sit in a quiet corner to write up some work. I found The Golden Lion. The beautiful soul who gave me a wee hideaway in the corner, got me a couple very well pulled and delicious Guinness AND even told me because it was Friday the wee awkward table I had was going to be sold. But she offered me a little more time. I'd not hold people away from a nice dinner on a Friday and by the time I was leaving the restaurant was filling with happy eaters and the smell of food from a kitchen that knows their onions. It's the small things that really make your day though and I wish I could quote you her name! Auburn, brown hair, glasses, a few smart tattoos, clever and efficient. Much to my shame I didn't leave a tip! Ball dropped. Don't be like me. Eat their food and tip their staff 😂 ***I've ONLY given a 3 for food because I read the menu and didn't eat. I was also only there for a couple hours at most hence 3 for atmosphere***

Lovely pub, offering great food and service. This venue offers a great menu selection with very reasonable prices. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. The pub offers good disability accessibility and has a good sized car park. Large, appealing beer garden with swings and small adventure playground for the children. Highly recommended.

Came with my husband and 11 month old daughter. Even though it was busy we had a lovely relaxed dinner (highly recommend the roast dinner platter - excellent value for money and all the meats were cooked perfectly) and service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Had two lovely meals here, the beef pot pie and the roast lamb Sunday dinner. Both were delicious and served with veggies that were just right! The pub seems to be the hub of the village with regular live music and a convivial atmosphere, lots of little snug areas to sit and eat and a lovely restaurant area too. If you are in or around Rossett I'd highly recommend dropping in.. it is definitely worth It!!

To be honest it was a 2.5.......... A meal for two - my friend opted for the cheese soufflé and the bouillabaisse both of which he was hough were nice, maybe not the best but not bad. I opted for the creamy garlic mushrooms which were tasty but clearly bought in, for my main course i chose 'the classic fish pie' - alas there was certainly nothing classy about it. The fish n sauce part was bland bland bland, the topping was some dry crumbly stuff of a sawdust-like texture topped with cheese - all of it very flavourless! Again clearly bought in elements assembled in the kitchen and heated up. I also had some ice-cream for pudding - you cant go wrong with cheshire ice-cream farm ice-cream...... obviously bought in. Coffee was extremely bitter americano. The bill for 2 beers, 2 starters & mains plus one dessert came to £66.10!!!!!! My food was distinctly average to below par and certainly not worth that kind of money. The venue's ambience and service were fine. I did say to one of the people serving ( he looked the most senior one) when asked if everything was ok that i felt it was very expensive... only to be told that that depends on where you are used to eating WELL - i am used to better for less! I will not return.

We were up from Bournemouth for the weekend and was recommend to visit this pub. The service was amazing from start to finish and the food was out of this world. All 3 courses looked and tasted amazing and the staff were very friendly throughout. We are here for another night so possibly back tomorrow.....
