Came on Sunday evening not sure what to expect rather nervous entering but after been given menu waited ages for drinks ,as meal went on the service was intermittent, too many people not enough staff but saying that the staff were full of apologies and waiting awhile between courses was not a bad thing ! The food was very good surprisingly so , we had the buffet plus duck and pancakes and we all enjoyed it ! We could see some tables having trouble waiting but as I say we didn't mind and the tasty food made up for the wait
Perfect. Food gorgeous, service amazing, place lovely, price unbelievable. set meal for 2, large starters, 2 meals, 2 sides pud, coffee, drinks throughout meal £31.15. bargain
Good for takeaway too!. The food from here is very good. I haven't been disappointed yet and have eaten either here or from here probably 20 times or more. The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly, and the food is pretty good value - especially if you have the set menus (e.g. Set Menu A for takeaway for two is £18 and feeds two people to very full twice).
I suppose if I had to pick fault I'd say that the place just isn't dazzling and often the waiters have difficulty with English, but really these are minor niggles.
Oh one other thing - the takeaway service is lightning fast - you can usually pick up in ten minutes.
Visited quite a few times to eat in and takeaway. The food is second to none for both. The cll you can eat is very filling and we rarely ask for seconds. The only down side is that it can sometimes be a long wait as they get very busy on Saturday nights.
Had takeaway at a friends from here a couple of times and was always really nice so decided to order in tonight. Although there was a mix up with our order it was fixed within 20 minutes and the food still arrived early. Salt and pepper chicken and chips were delicious and spring rolls were the best I’ve had.

This is the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had,
I came to visit a friend in Rotherham and we decided to get a takeaway, I simply chose new modern from a list and I'm blown away, the staff were nice on the phone, the egg fried rice was fantastic, the colours of the food when unpacked was fantastic, the egg fried rice was like nothing I've ever had, so light and tasty, everything that came was clean, nothing over oiled or drowned in water. The thing that really got me was the sweet n sour sauce, simply out if this world, this is a must for a special evening.
For the money that we paid we couldn't have asked for more, the food was amazing, the staff were overall very friendly (apart from one who was a bit quiet but still very helpful), they were attentive and quick. The food came quickly and it's a nice twist on all you can eat buffets. It seemed more like a Chinese tapas restaurant that an all you can eat buffet. The food was hot, tasty and I'm sure was all done to order instead of it sitting out for hours in a hot plate. Trust me, you will be full and satisfied when you leave here. If your in the area and love Chinese food, this is a must.
We were staying at a local hotel and wanted something different to eat, so glad we tried Modern China, even though we did read the reviews and were apprehensive. We had the buffet, what a treat. Everything was freshly prepared and very tasty. Will definitely visit again and recommend. Reasonably priced too. As previous reviewers have mentioned, don’t be put off by the negative reviews, well worth a visit.
I've not been for a couple of months and according to recent reviews it's gone downhill...this isn't the case at all. We went this evening and the food and service were spot on. We have various items from the menu including meat and fish as I'm pescertarian.. all was gorgeous and arrived hot and fresh. We enjoyed it so much I'm taking my family next week to celebrate my birthday.
Beaut food here!! Service is absolutely amazing, always seated fast, orders are taken and food is out soon as! Amazing value for money, all you can eat for less than £15 per person!
This place sells it self short with a massive cheap banner on front saying "Buffet". However it's all freshly cooked & served to your table...choice of 2 starters each. Duck pancakes. Plus main course & rice noodles & all options available. Gorgeous
Only came across here by default as our usual Chinese was closed being Tuesday. This is much nicer than our regular one. We had the buffet and is absolutely stunning. Highly recommended
The staff are really friendly and the food is lovely. Far better than a hot plate buffet. Here you order what you want and it's cooked fresh.
