The Anchor Pub - Rowhedge - Photo album

Tasty food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll happily go again.
We had a very enjoyable meal at The Anchor in Rowhedge yesterday evening. We received a warm welcome when we entered the pub and the lady behind the bar was really polite, friendly and helpful. The menu was large and varied with good sized portions and a great choice of real ales. We had a lovely vi
This is a lovely village pub, where you will get a warm welcome. The food is good and reasonably priced with great veggie options. Good selection of drinks. Ideal for a sunday roast
We came here last night and this place, is beautiful! The staff were welcoming and lovely. The food was so amazing and I especially loved the cheesy mash that came with the beef rib main, the garlic bread starter was just the right amount that I didn't get full before my main and the sticky toffee p
A really friendly welcome. Much more a restaurant than a pub. An extensive menu and of good quality. Very friendly and always well looked after. A great spot on the river. Parking nearby isn’t easy!
Great traditional pub/restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Would recommend. 👍
Nice and cozy sat outside tide was out weather a bit cold. But would return in summer when hot weather it will be even better. Visited today had sunday lunch tasted great only let down Yorkshire puddings were thick and stodgy. Not well made its the key to a great Sunday lunch. I'll give the chef t
Nice little pub right on the river serving food and a good selection of beers and wines. Nice views of wivenhoe from the back bar. They have a small outside seating area for when the weather's nice.
Lovely food and great service in a great location next to the river. A definite place to come and visit made even better by great service to our table. Will be back.
What a gem. Charming pub in a very nice riverside location. I attended in December but many tables indoors allow a view of the river and surrounding countryside. I can only imagine it must be glorious in summer when seated outside. The food was delicious and the staff excellent. I shall definitely b
We had a really lovely enjoyable meal overlooking the water. The food was well presented by friendly and attentive waitress we would highly recommend this place and great value for money.
Food good value. Service good atmosphere outside tables shabby looking like all needs a bit of TLC
I had a fish and chip supper. Lovely crisp batter, peas, really good tartare sauce and a huge pile of chips. Well worth the money. Really good service too.
Really pleasent place, good service and tasty food 😋
I cycled here on a lovely, sunny, October day. I sat outside, on a terrace by the river, and ate a tasty and big portion of ham, egg and chips washed down by two pints brewed by Shepherd Neame (of Faverham). As the tide rose, geese swam by, a cormorant fished forty feet away and the River Colne look
Booked in advance for Easter Sunday lunch. So restaurant busy but we were one of the first tables (sitting barside) . We ordered the traditional Beef Sunday Lunch. Not a long wait and all good 😋except for the one yorkshire pudding included -very burnt and uneatable☹. I hate complaining so I waited
This place is an absolutely brilliant pub with a great atmosphere. It's beautiful to sit outside on a sunny day and some amazing food! Without a doubt in my top 3 of the best food I've had in a pub. The prices are very affordable considering the quality. I would definitely recommend this place to a
