First time I've tried Maguires and it won't be the last had fish and chips last night they were absolutely amazing best fish and chips I've had for years .

Hands down the best chippy in the North East…I took my Michelin trained chef friend here, and he nearly fainted. He couldn’t believe this was a local fish and chip shop. Never tasted fish like it, and the batter was amazing, and chips right up there too. It’s worth the journey, how ever long it takes you!

We've found this place has been patchy at times over the last 25 years that we have been going, but overall good. I do have to say though that for the last 4 or 5 visits the fish and chips have been top notch. Not mad keen on the curry sauce unfortunately as is a bit 'fruity' for my personal taste but I suppose you can't have everything.

Just had the most amazing beef dip sandwich and chips from here. The beef was amazing so tender and tasty. Buns were so fresh as we're the chips. A place to visit.

Called in tonight for fish and chips and what can I say, the best I have had in a long time! The portion sizes were perfect and whilst only there a few minutes the lady serving and the gentleman frying made me feel so welcome. The staff were dressed smart and the kitchen appeared clean and tidy. We will definitely be visiting there more often. Would highly recommend!

Perfectly situated for the attractions of the Derwent Valley,while out on a health walk and giving me tummy a holiday I came across the aroma of fish frying I soon came to Maguire's whereupon tummy's holiday went out the window, I only went in for chips but my eyes were bigger than me belly although the polite young lady serving may well of disagreed, anyway Its a canny chippie like

Absolutely love this place the cooking is unreal especially from Amanda but I do miss Kerry’s cooking it was also really nice!! Servers always have a good attitude and a nice smile when I enter shop, fantastic place worth a 5 start definitely

This has been an exceptionally good fish & chip shop for year's.
It's consistently good too.
Food portions are generous and very tasty.
