Beautiful le crunch burger- beef burger, Brie and crisp bacon. Stunning. Best onion rings I've ever eaten. Cider was great too! Back room very cosy with great decor and fairy lights. Would definitely go back if we we're in rugby again!
Best beer and best pub in rugby, my visit was made because the ale on draught was delightful, friendly staff and a cracking environment.
My only complaint and compliment is that it was a very well hidden gem.
Been here for many different occasions, including Titanic night, gin festivals,Sunday lunch, beer tasting and Christmas. Great music in a Tuesday. Always delivers on quality food, great beer, good selection on gins and consistently friendly and efficient staff.
Super welcoming visit to this pub for my visit with family and dogs. Food was lovely and the drinks range is very extensive, well worth a visit. Thanks to the staff much appreciated x
Excellent service and professional staff very welcoming and deserve their award of best rugby pub in the country
Best pub for miles around! Wonderful atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. The food is delicious (try the âmeaty Ronionâ) and plenty of beers to choose from. I have been a regular visitor for years and hopefully for years to come!
Easily one of the best if not the best drinking pub in Rugby, friendly staff, a good setting, good ales and impressive gin selection.
I can't think of a better way to offer a whole heap of thanks to the landlord, chef and all of the staff at the Merchants.
Thursday saw the funeral of my gorgeous girlfriend Lyndsay. After the ceremony, we held a wake at the pub. And, as much as any funeral wake can be, it was brilliant-
-The food was excellent
-The staff were friendly, polite and understanding
-The room was perfect for the sixty or so attendees.
If anyone is looking for a venue for a party/wake/wedding, I can HIGHLY recommend the merchants. Definitely exceeded expectations!
Many thanks again, from myself and Lyndsays family and friends.
First class, good atmosphere and bar staff are outstandingly charming. Fab selection of gins, best pub in town ïżœ
Visiting for the Cricket at Rugby school yesterday , all the way from Broadstairs in Kent , what a fantastic pub , great food , great selection of beers ...... awesome boozer !
I've visited a few times on a night out and also played a few times as a musician. Each time I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the beer varied and well-kept, the atmosphere warm and traditionally welcoming. A great pub. Keep it up!
Great Sunday lunch today as always. Great staff, great food (often go for weekday lunch) and superb staff.
Best pub in Rugby. Well worth a visit, especially on a tuesday evening for some live music.
Always keen to get to the Merchants to watch some domestic and international rugby. Really great set up. Friendly staff and good food and drinks choice; what more could you want!
Popped in Saturday for a burger and a pint.
Excellent burger and always a great selection of ales.
Recommend the Purity Ales "Mad Goose"
A first-rate establishment for a drink. Plenty to choose including scrumpy-type ciders, ales, and bottled beers.
The walls are covered with interesting breweriana memorabilia and ceilings are clad with pump clips of ales past.
Always a smashing atmosphere. One of best places for quite some miles. Cheers đ»
If you love beer, go here. Best place for beer in Rugby and surrounding areas. My brewer-husband described the beer as âexceptionalâ and âwell keptâ.
The wine selection was a disappointing - I had a very acidic French chardonnay, and they donât do coca-cola behind the bar, just a very herbal Fevertree Cola.
The place is impressively decorated inside with beer memorabilia, and they play sports on a large projector screen.
Loved it in here. When I went in I said I hadn't been here before and wasn't sure what I wanted, the lovely woman working behind the bar gave me samples of five drinks! I chose my favourite and went and sat in a nice and cozy room with great decor. I'll definitely be back.
Visited the pb over the festive season and was very pleased with the service and the selection of drinks on offer. The place was busy when we have arrived but we still managed to get a table.
First rate pub, with flagstone floor and a huge collection of breweriana, a wide selection of ales to choose from, a excellent pub grub.
Great beer, great atmosphere and great staff - a pub in the centre of Rugby that really does have it all.
Beers are constantly being updated and refreshed, which means it's always a surprise to visit.
Children are welcome until 7pm.
Always a variety of sporting and music events on, as well as beer festivals focussed on countries around the world.
Oh, they do good food too.
First time in the pub, as I'm new to the area and I think I've my new favourite/local.
I apologise as I can't remember the barmaid's name but she was brilliant. Gave me lots of info on the pub and events.
Great selection of beer, staff and atmosphere.
I will be back, lots!
Finally.... I have actually set foot in a real English pub. It has everything I could possible have imagined.
Regulars sitting by the bar, talking a bit tho loud, enjoying each other's company and tipping pints. A fair size u shaped bars with many bar tenders manning the many chooses of golden elixir.
A solid row of hand drawn tap handles.. Chalk boards with the options of the day
Tables and chairs that don't match.
People really enjoying their time.
Lucky to go on a Sunday for their infamous top beef dinner with all the fixings...
Staff is great. Beer was awesome and options plentiful. Food was excellent.
Friendly atmosphere. Happy , helpful staff.
Friday night so was very busy but we did still get a table to sit at. They had a cider tasting promo on that night.
This is a really nice place to sample craft beer. So many to to choose from, friendly and helpful staff and quality food. If you are in Rugby go here
