Review Sugar Plum Tearoom - Ruthin

Can't fault anything about Sugar Plum! The staff are all welcoming and friendly! Food is plentiful, and portions are generous, but prices are very reasonable! Great options for vegans, vegetarians, or those with allergies like myself! Seating inside or outside! Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead! There are plenty of parking spaces. There are 2 disabled bays, and the toilet is disabled friendly. The whole cafe and shop area is wheelchair friendly, plenty of space to manoeuvre around! They also do a delicious afternoon tea at £20 pp with a £10 deposit when booking. We had this on another visit.

Really nice afternoon tea out for a family birthday. Staff were very welcoming, lovely atmosphere. Service was friendly and relatively quick though our toddlers meal was missed off the order but this was rectified quickly and without issue. Food was lovely. Nice to have some savoury items with the afternoon tea and there was plenty of food. Would certainly recommend.

Lovely cafe, fresh well presented food of very good quality. Excellent service, lovely ladies who were very polite and helpful. Only quibble, chips a bit too greasy. Otherwise, amazing food with a great choice

Great find tucked away in the foot drop of Moel Famau. Sit outside with a picturesque panoramic view. Or venture in doors into a quaint tearoom. Greated with information and choices. Great selection of travellers lunch bites, sandwiches and meals. We enjoyed Sunday morning cappuccino. Melt in the mouth Lemon hot scone with jam and a Bakewell sponge to follow. Sure to revisit. Recommend you book 24 hrs advance if you want to explore the lunch menu.

Wonderful afternoon tea as a birthday treat for mum. The table had a Happy Birthday sash as decoration, and mum's scone came adorned with a birthday candle! The staff were friendly and obliging, even when my husband gate-crashed! He was quickly given a menu so that we didnt lose all our cakes! All involved contributed to a lovely afternoon. We came here following word of mouth recommendation and we will also be spreading the word! Thank you so much 💜💙 Gem of a place with fresh, tasty, home-cooked goodies.

5 star! Heck yes! I’ve never seen anywhere like it being served clotted cream and jam all full to the brim in their containers and they do believe that scones are warm. Service; a tip is to make your reservation for an indoor table. Otherwise , if like us u drove all the way from Chester wanting to sample menu, we were not easily put off when the server said there was no table available. The weather was on our side and noticing outdoor seating we said we were happy to be sat there as all we wanted was tea and scones and the works that come with it. This year, out of all we had , this cafe has the best.

Delicious food and they have lots of fresh cakes made on the day 🌿❤ giving a four start because we did not know we had to pre book for tea time 🙏 But we liked it enough and will definitely be back to see the view from the balcony on a sunny day ! This location is lovely !! They also have a craft store . So make sure to check it out . Lovely renovated place..

Ham & cheese panini with chutney, salad & crisps. Very nice indeed. Fresh, timely and with great customer service. Not sure why they offer about a dozen different types of Rarebit - possibly at the expense of a wider variety of menu but tasty all the same. My wife ordered a sausage butty which strangely also came with salad & crisps. However, again, very nice nicely done.

Beautiful afternoon tea yesterday, we've just had the cakes from our doggy bag. I would have actually liked more savoury - the tomato and cheese tart was divine! My only minor gripe is the tea can't be swapped for anything without charge; our pot was reduced to a single serving for my mum but my cold drink was still full price. I appreciated the bday balloon and the shop was really interesting. Enjoyed my visit!

Have wanted to come here for a while for the afternoon tea due to great reviews. We booked a table for 14:30 - it was very busy and service was slow. We were served the tea but the food took a while to arrive, we had nearly finished the pot of tea by then so we asked for another (which never arrived!) Didn’t think the afternoon tea was worth £29 either - we have been to so many different places which were so much better.

Lovely birthday lunch here today with my daughter and two year old granddaughter. Our lunches were beautiful , a club sandwich and soup and sandwich. Lovely portion of baked beans and fresh toast for our toddler, no need ever for horrible pre formed chicken , fish and greasy chips . The cakes were beautiful generous portions sad we were unable to finish them . My granddaughter enjoyed sharing my cauliflower and cheese soup , she ate most of it ! Perhaps an addition to the children’s menu could be a smaller portion of soup of the day .

We came along on Monday for my birthday treat, ( it was my 4th visit but gets better each time!!). We couldn't decide between the afternoon tea and the pate platter so we ordered both! Needless to say we ended up taking some of our yummy cakes home for supper. All the food was absolutely delicious. The staff all go out of their way to make everyone's visit highly enjoyable. Really worth the 45 mile round trip. I can't wait for my next visit. Well done to you all

I have been here on several occasions and have always had a faultless experience but I was disappointed yesterday. I had pre-ordered some plain sandwiches with the afternoon tea but I had to ask again for these after the food arrived, then half way through our afternoon tea we realised we were missing a vital component.....the tea!! Service was sluggish and we waited a long time to pay. Also my Strawberry milkshake was a real let down and just tasted like a powder shake as opposed to an ice cream one like some of the others. Shame as I have always spoke very highly of this place.

Absolutely fabulous afternoon tea on Saturday, booking is a must but it was just so lovely having the place buzzing from start to finish. Best afternoon tea experience I've ever had, all the staff are beauties!! The decor is right up my street, everywhere you look there was little kitsch items! Will be returning soon - well worth driving an hour+ from Anglesey for tea and cake keep up the good work!

An avalanche of creamy garlic mushrooms on a delicious thick slice of granary toast followed by a scrumptious warm scone with raspberry jam and clotted cream! Sugar plum tearoom you never disappoint us when we come for lunch. 10 out of 10 ! We will be back x

Booked afternoon tea for my hen day, lovely atmosphere, lovely afternoon tea, food here is absolutely the best, and the best china! All served with a smile. Thank you sugar plum staff for being obliging and accommodating. X

Enjoyed a fabulous breakfast here this morning! Beautiful fresh eggs and granary bread to die for! Family member had a breakfast bap - fried egg, bacon and a mahoosive slice of black pudding! And to top it all, we went into the shop there and ended up buying a vintage book case for £20. Loads of vintage stuff and Kath Kidston stuff - if you get the chance, go! Wise to book first as it gets very busy! (Take lots of money if you like vintage!)
