Popped in to collect take away fish n chips this evening. They were delicious and freshly cooked. What a useful place to have on the doorstep! New to the village but loving this local asset. Staff friendly and charming, met Olly and chef Andy in the kitchen.. Thank you so much. Can highly recommend.

Love this restaurant. A family business with a great welcome. The food is delicious and the chef makes sure you don't go hungry. Very relaxed and you feel very comfortable if its busy or quiet. The Scholar's Burger is literally the best burger I have ever tasted. Scholar's does a variety of "special nights" like Greek, or Chinese food, or Steak Night. All are amazing value. The bottled beer is excellent. They also do take aways which we didn't try but from the steady stream of customers is clearly very good. Thanks guys - loved meeting you all. We will be back! Note that Scholar's is usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Wonderful restaurant, and bar. Superb food for a very reasonable price. Chef went out of his way the cater for my wife's vegetarian preference. Currently doing 'themed nights' once a week, which are fantastic, and good value. Sunday carvery is not to be missed

We go there for steak night. 2 fillet steaks and a bottle of wine for £30. Delicious steaks too. What's not to like. Going to try Sunday lunch next, looks fabulous.

Food is superb here, never had a bad meal, my favourite is the Sunday roast, by far the best around. I recommend booking though as its very busy.

Superb food. Very capable chef. The best Leek & potato soup we had ever tasted. You need to be able to climb an external staircase to access the old village school classroom which is the restaurant. Good handrail and log fire.

Went for the steak night & inclusive bottle of wine - £30 for two. Food was spot on, there was plenty and the steaks were delicious. Well worth a visit and the place was full.

Warmly welcomed by the team on a quiet Thursday night, just popped in for a quick bite after being boostered. Turned into full blown dinner with the lamb and plaice specials, wine and coffee. We reflected with Chris, Olly and Andy after we'd finished on how grateful we were that Scholars had stayed open, serving delicious takeaways, during the lockdown and that with some return to a cautious nearly normal that they would continue to enjoy the support of their local, thankful customers.

Not sure I should be saying how wonderful this restaurant is as it will then become so popular that there will be no room for us!! Seriously, my good lady and I have just enjoyed a most superb Sunday Lunch where the quality of the food and the quantity of the serving were second to to none. Lovely venue, excellent service, extremely good value for money and lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much!
