We were on that side of town and thought we would try something new. After much deliberation, we landed on Jacala. Very clean bathrooms too. We were seated immediately. Our server was nice and attentive. We started with a basket of chips and salsa. The chips *may* be made in-house and they were good enough a little salt would have been nice. I thought the salsa was good, not all spice well-rounded flavor. I ordered the "Ladies Special" two puffy beef tacos and two cheese enchiladas. Tasty! Now what I was expecting for puffy tacos was not what arrived, but they were delish anyway. The beef had a good flavor and was well-drained. Translation my tacos didn't fall apart. My enchiladas were not all tortillas and no cheese. Actually a nice cheese bite every bite. The flour tortillas, for me, were tough. Those ARE made in-house and fresh and if I had a complaint that would be it. My husband had the Carne Guisada with rice and beans. My husband has a hard time eating all his food at most restaurants not here. The size of the plate and the price for your meal is comparable. We paid $25 and change for two meal, a beer, and a tea. I'm not at all disappointed for trying something new.

A San Antonio must go spot! Food is great and this restaurant is known to stay open during cold fronts, and weather crisis to serve the community . The food is always hot and delicious and staff is awesome! Christian was my server as well as previously my parents server and he is outstanding! I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so!!

Ive eaten here a few times in the past, decided to try the chicken mole enchiladas and the puffy tacos this time and both were pretty good. In the past I've ordered the cheese enchiladas, and the nachos both of which are some of my favorites. Compared to other mexican restaurants in San Antonio this one easily makes a top 10 list, as many of the items here are really good. The food comes out pretty quick, the portions are large, prices are affordable and the menu has a wide selection of items. I appreciate the owner reaching out to me after a previous bad experience. They made up for the bad experience and everything was great on the next visit.

The lunch specials and menu are where it's at here at Jacala. The food is pretty standard Tex-Mex but you get a good value. The Mexican plates give you a great variety of flavors, and the tortillas are always fresh and delicious. For tacos, the beef fajitas are solid. The ambiance is extremely colorful and festive, which looks like a tourist trap, but tastes like local flavor.

All time family favorite. Its been a while since we've been to Jacalas Mexican Restaurant and I have to say that the enchiladas & puffs tacos were delicious as I remember. The staff was great and provided quick service and continued to check on our table. It was not busy at all after 4:30pm. COVID19 SAFETY ENFORCED

The salsa is amazing and the chips made fresh, oil is clean. Big portion for the nachos with the beef fajita. Comes with a side of guacamole and sour cream with tomato. Upon request for jalapeños. They use American cheese for the nachos which is a huge plus for me. their water taste is clean. The place as well ventilated. I will be coming back again at another time to try their enchilada plate.

Interesting find off Fredericksburg. We were looking to eat in an area nearby a friend's place and found this little gem. Huge corner lot building with large outdoor seating as well as inside. Parking lot was packed but we were still seated immediately. Decent TexMex plates and American dining choices. I went with the flautas and my girlfriend chose the beef fajita. Flautas were cooked well with the chicken being super juicy. Just wished it was better seasoned. The beef fajitas were amazing! I would get this if I knew better! Maybe next time. Great drink specials to top it off. Will definitely be back to try out more of the menu! Thanks Jacala!

A trip to flavor town and a screenshot to the past. First time visiting San Antonio, and the first restaurant that we choose to visit because it was close to the Hotel where I was staying has become my obsession and excuse to why I must go back to SAN. Jacala, is the definition of the first impression is your last, and I have to admit, until then I thought that Tex-Mex was Fajitas and the soft tacos with a pile of yellow cheese, was I wrong! My experience to Jacala started with being greeted by both owners and their son, right then I felt home, I belonged to be there. The staff, always checking on us for drink refills, trying to make my impossible to make smile daughter, the owners checking up making sure that we were doing okay. I mean, literally, the owners both greeted all the customers that walk in. The food exceeds my expectations on what Tex-Mex should be. Their puffy tacos, they invented them here, I mean this is the mecca of puffy tacos heaven. You aren't a Texan until you try their puffy tacos, trust me you'd have to join a rehab. But, the "piece de resistance" was the cheesy enchiladas, whatever is in them is crack. I love everything about this place. I can't wait to go back.

This is your traditional go to Mexican restaurant. It has a good vibe and it has your traditional Mexican food. They have great lunch specials and awesome queso, chips and salsa for gratis. They also have awesome margarita specials. Their food is great as well. It's fast Mexican food but it's good. Miguel is a great server with a wonderful personality and so pleasant to be around.

Went here for lunch with my boss who used to go here when he was a kid with his grandpa. Gotta tell you, the puffy Taco is pretty great. Killer chips. Crazy good salsa, green sauce (I think it’s cactus blended with jalapeño but not sure) and queso. The cheese enchiladas were fair but the weakest part of the meal. Not bad by any means but Smokey and less hardy than I expected. Once I put some queso on top it was perfect. Next time I’ll probably ask for onions on top. Sweet tea was literally perfect. Excellent service. I’d probably give it a 4.5 if that was possible but since it’s not I’m going to do something I rarely do and round up because of to all around experience.
