The Green room has been open in Scarborough now for over 5 years.
It is a michelen star restaurant and specially opened on Monday for my cousin's surprise birthday last night.
The setting was amazing, the food was of the highest standard and the price reflected the standard.
If you want budget, go Florios. If you are looking to have an amazing meal and spend a little more, go to the Green Room.
I had Fishcakes for the main meal and Bailey's cheesecake for Desert.
WOW!
Love this restaurant, great ambiance, friendly staff. Fantastic food. Can not wait to visit again. Highly recommended!
I was working in Scarborough and the promoter who booked me took me here for a pre-gig dinner. Although it was a flying visit, I was highly impressed with the ambience, food, staff, service, decor and pretty much everything. A wonderful, wonderful restaurant with fine locally sourced food and highly attentive staff. I really hope I can return for a more relaxed and indulgent visit.
Called in for lunch with my son. We were seated quickly. We chose a full English breakfast and the cajun chicken sandwich. Lovely food and environment. Happily revisit
The staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. I really recommend the pan fried chicken and the popcorn creme brulee. Had some fantastic cocktails. My favourite was the champagne cocktail. They also played great music and I love the fairy light and candle lighting.
Fabulous. It's quite surreal walking across Scarborough then finding this green decorated quietly cool and shady restaurant opposite the steampuss cat lounge (think a Victorian curiosity shop meets car barber). It was quite busy when we were in and think the staff were a bit worried about our 2 children disturbing the other guests on a Saturday but it turned out they were on their best behaviour.
To the food. Foie gras parfait starter with a "wold" ale chutney and toast. Extremely well presented but slightly under seasoned. I mis-read the menu initially and asked if this came with a small beer but the beer was in the chutney. I think a half pint of ale on the side would finish this dish off and lift it to a higher level. Wife had lobster bisque that was incredibly deeply flavoured of the sea.
Mains lamb rump dish had a super shiny gravy delicious mash and perfectly cooked lamb. Kale was in there somewhere. This is the best lamb dish I have ever eaten in all the (Michelin) restaurants I have been to. Wife had a ravioli that was top drawer.
Pudding was the kind of thing you see at the banquet on great British menu a trio of strawberry delicacies in this case a strawberry sorbet, strawberry ice cream with chocolate lattice and strawberry cheesecake along with a crunchy spun sugar. By this stage I didn't notice what everyone else was eating as I was in strawberry heaven. Both children well catered for with fish goujons.
So we had a superb time and the server's had personality and were happy to talk to us and this was the best meal we had of 5 on holiday across the north in the week. So why not 5 stars?
A couple of small things. The gents door lock was broken and the loo roll ran out. With children we were back and forward to the toilet a few times so it was clear the toilet roll situation was not being checked.
The second thing which is perhaps more important was the timing and taste of the wine. I ordered a glass of white to match my starter and it didn't arrive until after I had finished it. I was after something dry and crisp but it didn't quite hit the spot. I didn't fancy the standard rioja to go with my lamb so ordered the £30 crianza. This was a bit ropy and I think it should be ditched from the menu altogether. When we first arrived we were provided with a bin end wine list. Not sure why. There was a separate drinks menu on the table. This was a bit confusing. Surely the bin ends can go on sale or return? My pre dinner cocktail was delicious and I highly recommend all the cocktails. I loved this restaurant and the staff and I think they should get some advice from a sommelier and shorten the wine list a bit but add some quality. I would be adding some french organic white and Provence rose as well as some Grenache and Australian pinot as well as some old rioja reserva if I could however I'm aware wine is very much in the tasting.
Not sure when I will be back in Scarborough but if you like proper cooking book a table and get down there. A real hidden gem.
Amazing place to eat, booked a table and the food was amazing we had fillet steak usually have medium but looked more like rare but was different but still nice, service was good aswell, the staff should be proud of themselves.
Great staff with fab customer service skills. All have been wine trained as well so can offer pairings with whatever you choose.
Food is quick to arrive and cooked to perfection.
Amazing every time
We visited Scarborough as part of our honeymoon and decided to dine here and what a fantastic choice we made. The food was impeccable and more than enough in portion size too. We were made to feel welcome by the staff from the outset and they are very efficient and courteous. They asked if we'd eaten there before and we told them we were on our honeymoon. Afterwards they surprised us with 2 glasses of champagne and a dessert. Wow we were very taken aback at their impromptu kindness. We would highly recommend dining here if you visit Scarborough as we will certainly be returning soon.
Wonderful meal for 8. Food and cocktails are amazing! Service faultless, friendly and attentive. Will be recommending 🙌
Food was very lovely. It may be a bit pricey but what you get makes up for it. Staff was very helpful as well.
Simply the best burger ever.. (Green Room Burger).
Great Value.
Just a bit cold with the door open..
Excellent Dining experience. Well constructed menu, hearty portions and classy decor. High end at reasonable prices (staff are attentive and pleasant). Strongly recommend a visit.
