Highly recommend El Gringos the staff couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble they really look like they like to be there. Now onto the food, oh my goodness amazing flavours cooked exactly how it should be. You would think you were in Mexico lol. The place is decorated very well and in a quirky Mexico setting which adds to the atmosphere.
If you want a great experience with good food pay this place a visit
We visited Scarborough and stumbled across this place on Friday night. The good was beautiful and good portions. We iked it so much we wanted to spend our last night in Scarborough there for tea too. Sadly they were fully booked. We would definitely pre-book next year.
When El Gringos closed its doors at its previous location, on The Esplande, I was worried (very worried) it might not reopen.
I was delighted to see it has now reopened at this location.
I visit Scarborough a few times each year and, for me, this is a must visit restaurant. I recommend the chimichanga. Yum!
We went in on a date and had a lovely seat in the window, the staff were professional and relaxed which was really nice, the food was great. Garlic cheesy bread was beautiful and the steak was cooked exactly right. We have only ever had takeaways previously and the food is great but eating in was even better. Best liquor coffee I've had.
Food tasted great and portions were really large also. Cocktails were OK. The only downside to this place was the smoke from the kitchen clouding up the restaurant; my eyes were hurting from this the entire time; I dunno if it was a one time thing as it was my first time visiting but no one apologised about it. Meal service was good too
First of all I decided to take no pictures of the building itself, it's currently undergoing massive renovations and I decided it would be unfair to show it as it is, don't be put off by the work, the food is great.
We started with the nachos, it's ment for one but it's huge and will easily feed two as a starter, it was also excellent with properly melted cheese (far too many places don't do this).
Next up was a chicken and beef chimichanga served with rice and black beans, again this was excellent, I went for the hot variety (you get to select the heat) it was warming, but not overly hot, although heat is a matter of taste.
My partner had the chilli bowl, the bowl itself is a crispy tortilla, this was medium and again was delicious.
The place is informal and child friendly, the staff are polite and friendly.
The portion sizes are large and incredibly good value for money. Again don't be put off by the current building works you won't be disappointed by the food.
So glad we came here! The food was excellent and the staff were great – really friendly and fun. The two of us had been out walking all day and were really hungry, and this 100% hit the spot. Well-topped nachos, generous potato skins, a saucy enchilada and a delicious chimichanga – and we were pleasantly stuffed. And I want to know they make their black beans because they were well tasty! Great stuff all round 😁
Great food but I feel the veg options could include tofu or a meatless alternative. Apart from that I loved the food and the restaurant itself was a great place to eat. Nice and clean.
We made a large order to be delivered to our holiday home. Everyone’s food came hot and it was all absolutely delicious.
I ordered the honey glazed ribs. Before the food came I thought the cost of £18 was quite steep, but the portion size was huge and they were the best ribs I’ve ever eaten. So in fact I felt for what you got it was very reasonable.
One family member ordered a vegetarian option and that was great too.
Everyone was very happy and I would definitely order again. Thank you
A great restaurant with different food to what you find everywhere else in the local area. Really tasty and great prices too. The location was also amazing as you could see the whole of Scarborough the bay and the spa but apparently they are moving very soon.
