Loved it, owned it, love it still. Great landlords, great pub, excellent beer food and service. I have met peoole here in Australia who know and love it too and even remembered me from 2001 pouring them a beer. Small world but only a few gems like this place

We go walking along the canal with our dog fizz and always start and finish here. Lovely food and great hospitality, fizz gets spoilt x

1st time I've visited this very friendly, warm and welcoming pub. Only passed by for a half, ended up chatting with a great crowd of regulars and left (very reluctantly) 3 hours later.

This place has the best beer garden for dogs, I have found anywhere. The manager (Steve) is so laid back and welcoming, you feel like your in your own home. There is even a world war 2 pillbox on the grounds for historians to explore! Proper friendly country pub.

Great olde world pub, always serving real ales and other beers wines etc. Real ales always expertly kept.

Nice homely pub. Popped in for a drink on way back from a shopping trip to Southport. Haven't been there for years and don't think much had changed in that time. If you want a modern pub then this is not for you. However this is a proper cosy pub with a lovely friendly atmosphere where you can get a nice quiet drink and a lovely snug to sit in.
