Review The Guy Fawkes Arms - Scotton

Went for our Xmas Dinner with work, staff were lovely and the pub is beautiful. Food was nice but slightly over priced for what it is. I did really enjoy the evening though and will definitely go again.

We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch on 17th of March. My husband and I both had pork which was excellent. The service was very good too even though it was busy. We've been before as we were staying at the nearby caravan site within walking distance. We had our dog which was no problem. We highly recommend this pub!

We booked lunch here from our home in the Netherlands after reading the reviews here and elsewhere. We headed here from the ferry. I can confirm it was well worth it. This was the best Sunday roast I've ever had in a restaurant. The staff were delightful and my only regret was not leaving room for one of the wonderful-looking desserts. I will return for the sticky toffee pudding. Criticisms? The car park is very cozy, but this old village wasn't built with cars in mind.

My wife and I visited today and we were not disappointed. The food was fabulous beautifully cooked. The service was exceptional. The management and staff were lovely and friendly There is easy access for disabled people. The toilets were spotlessly clean. There is a decent size car park with a small sitting out area weather permitting. Well worth a visit.

My third visit in the past year. Consistently first class in every aspect. The menu. And food is unbelievable. The set price lunch is amazing value. If your an ale drinker try the ‘old leg over’.

Absolutely spot on food every time we have been. Service amazing, staff so friendly and a very lovely atmosphere in the pub. Highly recommend.

Wow!! Amazing the culinary excellence is second to none the kitchen sent out amazing food, high quality restaurant standard in the comfort of a friendly warm open fire pub. Mussels starter was super tasty with fresh mussles. Prawn cocktail was average for me only because I like mine drowning in sauce. Duck main star of the show ✨️ superbly cooked best duck everrr! Cauliflower cheese side delicious! We never do dessert but just had to White Russian crème brûlé was devine with homemade shortbread and blueberries and syrup sponge amazing! We booked straight away for Sunday roast the next day and that did not disappoint. The staff were fantastic service was super fast we can't wait to visit again.

Delicious food, tasty pints and friendly service. I can't wait to visit again! Most of our party had the steak and ale pie. I sampled it too, and it was gorgeous! I opted for the braised pork belly with buttery champ mash and pork scratching. I'm still drooling at the memory of it! The gravy was amazing, too!

Rather exceptional really The menu had a fantastic amount of choice and the prices were excellent for the quality of food you get This isn't a large plate, quantity over quality kind of restaurant. It's much more of a quality ingredients, cooked brilliantly, presented beautifully and served with enthusiasm, kind of place to eat that is often overlooked at the moment The service we had from Dani and the team was amazing and made our visit feel extra special It's a place that's far away from us in distance but very close to us in our hearts and thoughts

We had the most delicious lunch here, and the service was excellent. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The 2 course lunch is exceptionally good value and I would certainly recommend. I don't think I've ever tasted better pub food....the chips are out of this world! The only disappointment was the car park. There are very few parking places and those that are there are extremely difficult to get in and out of, even for an experience driver. If the management could find somewhere else to store the beer kegs, that would help matters! So be prepared to park in the street, if the residents let you, and walk!

To be at the physical birthplace of Guy Fawkes, the modern day face of Anonymous, is itself a privilege and a treat. To imbibe a pint of Boltmaker with a steak pie is another. What a place. The menu is brief, but the food is topnotch. My steak pie was outstanding, whilst the haloumi with grape salad was inspired. So too the kids bangers and chips. Their basic pub descriptors don't do this place justice.

Replete with barrels from underneath the Scottish Parliament House, originally filled with gunpowder, now fallow, a knights armour in the corner, and an oak choristers portico, this place veritably oozes history.

The Guy Fawkes Arms is under new management, and mum and dad had already done a recce (thanks for passing on the research skills, pops) and decided this was where they wanted to celebrate their fifty years of marital bliss.

Staff were welcoming, friendly and really helpful from the word go, and there was a good selection of real ales on tap from around the region (including Leeds Pale from The Leeds Brewery) and a good choice of wines too (we had a Viognier – dry white – with our fish courses, reasonably priced at around £25.00 a bottle).
