I just left Oaxaca City Mexico 2 weeks ago and I was so happy to taste mezcal again (with peanuts and chili sauce and oranges on the side). I tried a food I didn’t have there, and loved the flavors. True to form, amazing flavors. Habanero sauce ($2) so flavorful and full heat! This place is so authentic that they treat you like a guest, not rushing you in nor out. It’s culturally different from US table service. Embrace this authentic experience. Thank you to the owners and staff for giving this opportunity to Seattle!

Good selection of tequila and mezcal. Flan was great. Portion size for my entree was a bit smaller than expected but the food was delicious. Girlfriend's margarita was a bit too salty for her taste but they gladly took it off the bill. We plan on coming back to try more of the menu.

The food was excellent. My husband declared that the mole was the best he’s ever had. The posole was also on point. I purposely didn’t eat it all so that I could enjoy it again the next day. The cocktails were also solid. Service was friendly and efficient.

The foo was very delicious and authentic. No tons of cheese like we usually get around here. In Mexico we don’t eat that much cheese 😏 but anyway amazing food, staff and atmosphere. I will defiantly be going back.

We were here for lunch yesterday. I ordered the tamale chicken for lunch. Their hot sauce was good and spicy. Great food and great service. Definitely will come back again!

Knocking a star because after we got our food, our waiter didn't ever come back for more water or another drink, and we had to flag down someone else to get our check. However, the food (lamb birria) was the best Mexican I've had in the area, and I love that they have a salsa bar. My cocktail (mezcalarita) was just alright, but other options might be better.

I stopped at La Carta de Oaxaca with my husband while spending the day touring around Ballard. My husband had been here on a previous trip to Seattle and loved it so we wanted to go again so I could experience it too. We started with an order of chips with guacamole and a few salsas from their salsa bar (all were fantastic) and I had a paloma (an incredible paloma). Then I ordered the pozole at the recommendation of our server and my husband had the tacos al pastor. Both were absolutely phenomenal. The pork on the tacos was tender and full of flavor and the pico de gallo was fresh and delicious. The pozole was heavenly with tender pork and lots of toppings to choose from. The portion was huge, there was plenty left to share with my husband. Our server gave us great recommendations and was very attentive. I highly recommend this spot for a delicious meal!

A great, authentic, locally owned Oaxcan restaurant. The mole items are excellent. The portions are perfect. Enough to be comfortably satiated without feeling stuffed. The prices seem slightly high, but not exorbitant.

I enjoyed the authentic Mexican cuisine, and in particular the Mexican pizza, which was adorned with steak and chorizo, and what appeared to be steamed cactus, along with a flavorful concoction of authentic and relatable Mexican toppings and cheese. The outdoor cabaña was nice, and it was a lovely atmosphere on a relaxing fall day. The bar inside was quaint and the bathroom was clean. It appears they have a small meeting area out back with a sneaking view of fishing port. Our server was very nice and eager to help.
