Popped into this fabulous pub en route from Wales to the South Coast. Had read excellent reviews so thought we'd give it a go and it certainly lived up to its predominantly top ratings. The welcome and service was excellent, pub had a lovely ambience and atmosphere and our food was brilliant. Highly recommend Nigel's home made pies (we enjoyed the steak and the chicken/bacon), with gorgeous mash and lovely veg. Would happily have stayed all afternoon but had to get back on the road!

Charming little pub just a few minutes off the A21. We googled options while driving from London to the South Coast, chose this place and were really glad we did. Hosts were charming and were happy to accommodate us tourists for dinner early on a Saturday evening, even without a reservation. Steak and ale pie was divine. Will definitely come back.

Myself and a few friends had lunch 20/9/23- the pub was very clean, lovely friendly staff who made us feel at ease and delivered excellent service. Was hard to choose what to eat as it all looked too good! Ham egg and chips were fantastic, and my friends had fish and chips. Generous portion sizes (we struggled finishing!), was served quickly, lovely and hot- and we had table checks too seeing if we needed anything. Great value too. I cannot recommend The Windmill enough!

We met my parents here last Saturday for lunch before a walk and loved it! Staff provided great service and were friendly (especially George), food was delicious and generous portions, and the drink selection was great. Can't fault the place. Liked it so much we came for a final drink when we finished the walk. We'll definitely be back!

Everything about this place was spectacular! We ordered the homemade steak and ale pie I ordered the child's chicken burger what can I say the portions were huge! We could eat it all but it was the best food we had tasted in a long long time. The staff were polite helpful and welcoming I look forward to returning soon.

Super super pub. We popped in while passing through for a wedding. Really friendly bar and kitchen staff and they were so flexible to our needs. I had Nigel's pie - beautifully cooked steak and ale pie with chunky bits of meat and perfectly textured mash. Seriously filled me up, but leaving enough space for an incredible brownie topped with ice cream and other goodies. Ashes was being being played on the tvv and it was a very friendly and jovial atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly particularly the bar staff (sadly I can't remember the main guys name ☹️) Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We visited here today as a stop off we found on route home from a long journey and we will definitely be returning again next time we come by that way. The man behind the bar (sorry, didn’t catch your name!) was very friendly and attentive and recommended Nigel’s homemade pies, all 4 of us ordered the pies and we wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. The steak and ale pies were the best pies we have ever had! Excellent value, top notch food and service.

Splendid place. The meal was flawless, amazing steak and kidney pudding, truffle mash with just the right amount of truffles in, they even managed to change my long held opinion that sprouts are the vegetable of Satan with how well they were cooked - they succeeded where many have tried and many have failed. Lovely proprietors, they even sprung a birthday surprise for my wife which was a lovely touch (and has given me endless brownie points even after I rightfully gave the pub full credit. Remarkable). Well kept beer too. Lovely people. Nice fire. Very affable spaniel. Highly recommended.

Nice village pub. The food is simple, but good quality. The service is kind and personal. Prices are reasonable. Good place to stop on a day trip.
