This is a lovely pub, serving in our experience, freshly cooked and excellent value food. How on earth could anyone complain about two main meals for £16.50 (14.99 if you choose differently) Both meals very good, and well presented. Thoroughly enjoyed, if a little too much - so very good value for a hearty appetite.
Staff are always friendly and welcoming - even under pressure.
This property desperately needs investment to support the staff who are clearly working so hard, and the visitors who flock to the Old Village expecting a bit more. Come on Greene King!!! You have the staff and the food. Invest some money and make The Crab THE place to visit in Shanklin

When booking I had requested a table not too close to other tables as bringing a dog. They had taken notice of that and our table was ideal. The staff who served us were really nice, polite and efficient. Our meals were very good, nice and hot and good quality. The whole place had a really nice atmosphere. Very good evening, thank you. Only negative and I think this is the same in most restaurants, is £7 for two diet cokes is a bit steep.

Booked a table for Sunday roast, nothing disappointed the service was good and we were informed that food was going to take 30 to40 minutes. Table service and drinks arrived quick, unfortunately the Turkey had just run out but we were offered options and choose the beef which was excellent with lots of fresh vegetables well worth any wait. Everything contributed to a relaxed and happy evening meal. Thank you

My husband and I had our evening meal here 3 times whilst spending a week in Shanklin. Each time, we could not fault either the food or the service. We particularly recommend the halloumi fries starter, and the macaroni cheese main dish. Booking ahead is probably a good idea, as it is a deservedly popular venue.

Please book! Nice place in the centre of town. Always busy but the service was still excellent. Comfy seating. Pub chain so standard meals. Accepted dogs. Roomy seating. We had a good time.

Nice green king pub in Shanklin old village. There’s a children’s menu available. Indoor and outdoor seating. You can order at the bar or on the app. Toilets are clean. I went for the fish and chips which was good quality.

I had rump steak and chips mushrooms and tomatoes, my husband had fish and chips. Can't recommend this enough. Such a lovely lady served us. Food was so good filling and very tasty steak was cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his fish was all fresh and very good quality. 5 stars aren't enough. Definately should eat here
