Used the Qype mobile phone app to find Edo Sushi whilst Christmas shopping and was really glad I did. The food is really nice, fresh and neatly presented.
The location is slap bang in the middle of Sheffield, so if you are looking for a quick bite to eat that is slightly different, then I would definitely recommend this place.
Great, fresh sushi. Good value too. If you're in the town centre and want Sushi for either lunch or dinner, no need to go anywhere else.
I get take out from Edo every single time I'm in Sheffield. I have to say, I'm not big on takeout when it comes to Japanese restaurants, but somehow Edo manages to make it work. The rice is always fresh, the sushi and salmon sashimi are excellent. If I had one request, I'd ask for more vegetarian or vegan options - they now have a basic seaweed salad, but a second type would be splendid. A side of tsukemono would be very welcome too.
But you cannot go wrong with the sushi or sashimi. And their Ikura? I don't know if they home cure it or what, but it's fantastic.
One note. Someone gave them a bad review because he drove a long distance without realizing it was take out. Next time, call ahead. Or better yet, sit in your car and eat dinner there! But don't leave a negative review just because you were neglectful. When the service and food are terrific, you should be concentrating on that!
IMHO.
Still the best sushi in sheffield. This is really what it's all about and doesn't leave you wanting more. The sushi is excellent the prices are great and often there are offers to keep you coming back for a new taste experience. It's just down a side road opposite maccies on far gate which can make it a little hard to find first time for some but don't miss it it's a gem. The staff are really friendly too. If you have limited experience with Japanese cuisine go in and ask. They were really honest and helpful.
I have tried some sushi in Sheffield, but Edo Sushi is the best so far!
One of my Japanese friends recommended this place and I ordered on the phone. It took one and a half hours to deliverea deliverer got lostbut he apologised sincerery and it was fine.
And the sushi.it was really good! It was worth to wait for 1.5h!!!
Sashimi (row fish) were very fresh and tasty, and the sushi are surprisingly reasonable with this quality. The quality is much better than most of sushi restaurants in this country.
If you are sushi lover, you should try!
Ordered from edo sushi for the first time the other night after reading the good reviews on trip adviser. Ordered online. They were great, they phoned and told us when to expect them. We just ordered mixed sushi trays but they were really lovely. We will definitely be re-ordering and trying more of the menu.
The shop is inside Kommune canteen. The mixed sushi set allowed me to enjoy a variety of sushi taste. They were all delicious. The cashier served me very politely. Perfect!
We went over for lunch in the week before university started, so it was pretty empty, but that's probably not the same during school time.
The dishes we tried were really good! The price was also pretty ok considering the quantity!
Nice little sushi shop, average prices, tastey food and friendly staff. Will be visiting more often when In town! Take away presented nicely.
I don’t usually leave reviews but this is the best sushi I’ve had from a mile off and better priced than restaurants I’ve been to before, it’s safe to say I’m hooked! 😍😍 and the owner let me know it’s the first authentic Japanese restaurant owned by a Japanese person in sheffield. And could tell from how well seasoned the sushi is. I had the dynamite dragon roll. It’s abit on the spicy side but if you can handle a little heat, I highly recommend.
Service was quick and easy to order over the Kommune app.
Food was just ok, chicken teriyaki was flavourful and fresh... the Sushi platter just didn't feel fresh... both the sushi and ginger felt dry and like it had been set out for some time.
Food was so good and the owner was so friendly!
He helped point us in the right direction and fed us a great meal for an excellent price
Very good quality food. Relatively reasonable prices, particularly the meal deals. The sushi is slightly steeper but excellent quality.
Ordered a takeaway the other week from here, it came quickly (to S2) and was so delicious. The 2 x handmade rolls and 2 x maki rolls came to £27.70 with delivery - so fairly reasonable.
Would definitely recommend for freshness of the fish and quality of the sushi.
We thought we found the best sushi in Beeston and nothing can beat that but we were wrong... Beeston is really good and this place is amazing... real taste of Japan!
We were so lucky to have found this place, and we drove all the way from leicester to here 3 times in 2 weeks lol
This shop is only for takeaway and they do have 2 other places close by you could eat in. We will be trying those later today and tomorrow! Can’t wait...
Right now we are waiting for another order of those amazingly fresh sushi and sashimi... even the sushi rice they had the exact right sweet and vinegar taste I could eat that alone!
******* update *******
We waited for an hour for the food and it was superb!!!!!! We didn’t realised you can get loyalty points when booking through website or app, you get 10 points for every £1 and you get reward when you reached 500 points... so basically spend £50 get £5 for next time~ sooooo good!!!
We ordered from here a couple days ago and I cannot stop thinking about it, both of the dishes we received were excellent, beyond 5 stars, better than most restaurants I have eaten at. Worth every penny, food arrived hot, presented very nicely and in a large portion. If the economical climate was nicer I would eat here every week.
