Warm and friendly welcome, attentive but not obtrusive service, great ales and top notch classic pub food. Locally renowned for the fish and chips, it doesn't disappoint. Cooked in a proper range in beef dripping, the taste is as good as anything in Whitby.
On holiday in the area, decided to go here from the good reviews. Turned up without booking on a busy Sunday afternoon, thankfully there was a table free for the 5 of us. Great place to eat, good selection on the menu and specials board. When your food arrives, there is plenty of well cooked , and very well presented looking plate, will definitely be returning. Not over priced either, infact good value. Well stocked ales and lager.
Sadly had cod and chips yesterday , cod was awfull , don't know what was up but batter was burnt inside and tasted like bad shoe leather . Fish was OK inside but seemed as if it had been re cooked. Fantastic menu, my self I'd recommend large haddock and chips with Irish curry sauce the batter is Fantastic I'm not a great batter fan but I loved it also I'd recommend the bacon steak with maple sauce it's great good food great staff landlord is a very friendly giant also.
