Amazing service here last night. We attended for a 16th birthday meal. Our waitress was very attentive and fast. The food is well priced, with great sized portions. Will 100% be back..
Not as great as normal, I think some of the regular staff may have already left and been replaced with temp staff until it closes.
Tables weren't as clean as normal, small things were missing... No salt shaker on the table, no finger bowl for the ribs, no finger wipes available, 4 chicken tenders instead of the 5 on the menu with the meal, etc. I was also accidentally sprayed with table cleaner in the middle of my meal when a table near us was being cleaned, which has never happened before.
We went for a last meal before it closes, and while it was still good, the little things add up to a just slightly off experience. Damon's has always been expensive for what you get, which was noticeable this time due to the slightly lower standards.
It's a shame it's closing, based on years of past visits, but if based purely on this visit i'd be less upset it was going away.
First time trying Damons and will be using again next time I am in Sheffield, could do with one in Manchester recommend people to try the ribs and coleslaw very nice
I have been coming to Damon's ever since it first opened its doors over 20 years ago. Although they have had slight fluctuations over the years with meals and the way they prepare them, I have to say it is one of the best places I have ever been to. It is expensive but you most definitely get what you pay for as the quality of food is always excellent. The staff are polite and friendly and can't do enough for you. Damon's caters for all age ranges and if it just so happens to be your birthday you will get your meal for free. If you have never been before I personally recommend the buffalo style chicken wings which have a little spicy kick to them and also there superb bbq ribs. Remember to book in advance and enjoy.
Just orded. Lobster tails and for me. California 🍔 nice staff ok plus door man to let you in and out our seroiver is Angie
Good service, the ribs are to die for. Good friendly atmosphere, free meal on your birthday.
Food was nice but over priced... staff where amazing... they brought a very tired and cranky toddler round from a tantrum...
Absolutly amazing food.. service was quick and friendly staff
Had a great birthday party night, food was good and great company
Great food, staff are lovely
Not been for a couple of years as last visit was awful. What a turn around!! Back on top form, some of the crispiest wings and softest ribs I've ever had. Service was so good felt obliged (by myself not the staff) to leave a tip.
Kitchen was a little slow to say it wasn't full which is what lost the fifth star but was timely and excellent quality.
Keep up the good work Damon's!
Lovely restaurant, good menu choice of both food and drinks, and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The table placements were a bit unusual and we had to request a move in order to enable our large party to converse with each other. Staff were however happy to accommodate this request and we enjoyed the rest of our visit. The deserts are lovely so definitely give them a try. Very friendly staff.
Returning customer! love the ribs here and the coleslaw is the best ever :-) the children enjoyed their meals but the children's pizza wasn't very nice - the crust was much too thick with a slither of topping.
Adult meals between us were ribs, steak and prawns all very tasty - as were the sides. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking. I would recommend booking as it gets very busy
Visited as a family of 4. Things have changed since they first opened, bread rolls are much smaller, over £2 for half a diet coke is very expensive and portion sizes are smaller yet food is more expensive. Saying that, service was good and food was tasty, ribs always good here. Got a child's meal free with an adult meal too so that was good. I think that it's lost a bit of its appeal but still an okay eatery for a family meal.
We went as you get a free main and dessert and your birthday. Brilliant deal and Damons are excellent at the food they do. The restaurant has an old Hollywood feel, with plenty of pictures of the stars around the wall. We both had ribs and they were gorgeous. Very courteous and happy to help. Will definitely revisit.
I've been here 20+ times and always had the ribs. I'll get this out the way straight off, they're the best ribs I've eaten an the UK. I don't say this lightly, I've eaten a lot if ribs at a lot of eateries.
Food is always fantastic, and that earns the 5 star rating. Only criticism is that the place is fully open plan and a tad loud at weekends.
Local institution for years. Still the best ribs I've had - fall-off-the-bone tender. Buffalo wings are also perfect! Good value for what you get, too. And the takeaway service means you can enjoy it all at home for a lazy meal in front of the telly if you want :)
Very good evening and good food if a little pricey! Had lobster (tail) and chicken (breast) which sat on a bed of rice which was not good as I cannot abide rice! The menu didn't state rice so was rather put off by the fact. The chicken was lovely as was the lobster tail. There was far too much salt used whilst I am aware that meals need seasoning at least leave room for the customer to add their own! The beer is expensive! Two pints of John Smith's was over £8. The atmosphere is good but very noisy. Individual private booths would have been good. The staff are overworked and could only manage forced smiles and a "for goodness sake make your mind up" attitude which was a shame. Hopefully the tip we left cheered her up! Overall a good experience but only as a rare treat.
