Great atmosphere, lovely staff and really good range of drinks. Great for a date night in the restaurant, football in the sports area with huge TVs or out with your friends. The beer garden out the back is beautiful.

Busy local pub with friendly staff. A wide & varied drink selection. The ball can be busy at times & sometimes there's a wait at the bar. The food menu has food offers that make already fairly priced food even better value. The portions are a good size. The food is tasty & well presented. I recommend the fish & chips with mushy peas. Big fish, crisp batter, good portion of chips & peas.
Been a while since Paulicarus visited The Ball. Had a refurb recently. Large open plan pub with patio to the front. Huge beer garden to rear. Getting very busy on Dec 21 with most tables pre booked. Food served, going down a storm. Plenty of TV's. Would be a bit iffy for me if it did not have a great real ale selection. First pint of Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold in several years. Excellent.
Writing this off the back of a 13 hour session in here bank holiday Sunday. Back in again, and will continue to do this every Saturday. Great staff, great beer, great company. I for one am always happy to see landlord Michael welcome me with open arms and give us great chat. What a man. What a pub.
The ball is a lovely, cozy, local pub. Amazing food and good beer on tap. Would deffo visit if in the area for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Went in this weekend on the Saturday afternoon and got a couple of booth tables for 9 of us in total - 4 kids on one, 5 adults on the other. Kids were happy as Larry - loads of board and card games available to play and all food was consumed.
Us adults also enjoyed our meals, but I forgot to order one of the dishes which I realised when the food turned up and we were one short. No problem said the waitress. She took the order at the table, opened a tab for us so we could pay after, and the forgotten dish turned up pretty quickly. She was very helpful and smiley. Keep up the great service Olivia and team.
Dad is a regular here for their OAP friendship club in the week some time and absolutely loves it. Great value, service and atmosphere. Top marks.

An absolute ‘invincible’ pint of John Smiths and the Chicken, Bacon, and Avocado toasted ciabatta was glorious!

Greatest boozer sheff has ever seen. Fantastic service even to Micheal Gray after 13 thatchers tops. Landlord is a top geezer. Would spend my life here if I could.
