Lovely riverside pub with a very good selection of interesting beers and a beautiful riverside terrace with some great views. Food looks interesting but expensive. There is parking and also good seating options inside and at the garden as well. The service is friendly and the venue was clean and well organised. You need to cross a busy road to get to the riverside terrace but you can order and the waitress will bring it to you. Well worth a visit.
Allow me to describe to you this delightful pub situated alongside the tranquil river in Shepperton. The ambiance is incredibly pleasant, complemented by an amiable crowd and exceptional facilities that enhance the overall experience. Moreover, the pub's aesthetic appeal is nothing short of remarkable, making it a feast for the eyes. All in all, this is a place that truly delivers on all fronts!
Always love coming here, the burgers honestly never disappoint and staff always friendly. Really do recommend this place for any occasion. We went for burger Monday and it was a great deal however how can you justify £8 for onion rings…
Yes. Yes. Yes. Great pub on the river. Has a docking if you arrive on a boat. Lovely atmosphere and cosy. Eat in or outside or right on the river. Service is excellent all friendly and professional. The food is Very Good. I had with my daughter 7 or 8 different tapas all of them exquisite. Sent my compliments to the chef.
Bravi !!!!!!
Lovely setting on the riverside, with fantastic food and service.
I would like to point out that the prawns were not deveined, which we would usually prefer, and we decided to send them back. This was understood by the staff, and other than this I really couldn’t fault anything else.
There is a boat hire service available that we would love to try in the summer. Prices online seem reasonable, and I’m sure you could stock up with food/ drinks from the pub for onboard.
We will be back again.
lovely pub. didn't eat but nice live music nice staff and service and a lovely location on the river with great views
Title: "Riverside Delight with a Cheesy Twist" - ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Our Sunday visit to The Red Lion was quite an adventure! This place has got an absolutely wonderful view of the River Thames. Sitting there, with the Thames stretching out before us, was a joy we could relish for hours on end.
Now, the staff were quite attentive for the most part. Sure, they did forget about our bill at the end of the meal, but we reminded them, and they were super grateful. It's one of those little human moments, isn't it? We all forget things from time to time.
As for the food - oh, the food was fantastic! We had two excellent beef roasts, a chicken burger that was just spot on, and Moroccan lamb that I can still taste if I close my eyes. It was a delightful spread that left us content and satiated.
However, there was a bit of a cheesy confusion. I ordered a 'burrata,' expecting a whole ball of creamy cheese. Instead, I got a plate with a slice of toast topped with tomatoes, prosciutto, and a thin layer of burrata. It was more of a bruschetta situation rather than a true burrata. I mentioned this to the staff, and they insisted that this was their interpretation of a burrata. They even said that burrata and bruschetta could be used interchangeably. Now, that was a bit perplexing, as burrata is a cheese and bruschetta is an appetizer - they're not exactly swap-able.
After we got home, I checked their website and the dish was listed as 'prosciutto.' Makes sense, but they could definitely update their menus to avoid such cheesy mix-ups in the future. I mean, £12.70 for a 'burrata' that was more like a bruschetta is a tad steep, don't you think?
All in all, we had a really good time at The Red Lion. The view, the food, and the mostly attentive service made it a lovely outing. We're taking away a star for the 'burrata-bruschetta' mix-up, but other than that, everything was perfect. We're definitely coming back, and hopefully, next time will be a flawless five-star affair!
Had a great experience and time at The Red Lion.
The manager was at the door and asked what type of atmosphere we wanted seating by the pub or more relaxed setting in a quiet part of the pub. We picked the later. The setting was very well lit, clean and had the perfect vibe for a family supper.
Victor, the head waiter served us and he was spot on. Really top service from him. Extremely friendly, professional and helpful.
We ordered the châteaubriand done medium and the got it done perfectly a delicious cut of meat paired with the black pepper sauce and aioli it really complimented the meat flavours well, the onion rings were light, crispy and well seasoned and potato chips had a good crust and fluffy on the inside.
The burger was delicious, patty was done medium and they again the chef cooked it to perfection. The burger is up there with the best I have had.
Portion sizes were good and everyone was extremely happy.
Compliments to the chef and staff again. Some photos below.
Will definitely be visiting again soon.
Absolutely wonderful pub. Thank you to Ebony who is a fabulous server. The staff are really professional here and the food is suberb. New chef since last year I think and a big improvement. We had the feta salad, a lamb dish, chicken wings, prawns, aubergine and flat bread. The salad, aubergine and lamb dishes were all absolutely delicious. The river seating location is wonderful. It's just great to see how the Red Lion is attracting new customers whilst also having locals at the bar. Sitying by the river is also really special in the summer.
What fantastic bar staff. We stopped here during a boating day trip. Had some fantastic food and good beer. What separates out the experience was the bar staff were incredibly friendly and fun. Helped make our day
Absolutely wonderful place to come and relax with friends and have a lovely drink or some delicious food! Staff are absolutely amazing and super polite! I highly recommend this place!
Taken here for a Sunday lunch yesterday. Food was excellent and very tasty. Large portions too. Nice friendly service. Surprised there weren’t more people dining.
What a great pub for dogs. Bar staff,/ Manager loved my Tiff who was not the best behaved. All the other dogs were so friendly. I'm not local but when I next visit my family I will attend.
A great location along the river and fantastically generous staff who went above and beyond with our accidental toddler induced drink spillage, (they weren’t doing the drinking).
Not eaten here yet so can't rate the food, but no reason to think it's not great. Love this place, they have a handy mooring area next to their beer garden to tie up a boat after a trip on the Thames which we frequently make use of. Beer garden is over the road from the main pub so care is required when crossing with an arm full of drinks or shepherding kids. There is a little bar actually in the beer garden which is handy when open. Layout of the pub is really cool with a covered outside courtyard, separate snugs and a bar/restaurant area. Really does cater for all. Can't wait to be back. Small car park attached.
