Small but cozy pub. The staff is mainly friendly and bubbly.
The food tastes Great, specially their Sunday roast. Their pasta portions is well larger than the average (serves 2 if you order some nibbles), but still tastes good.
If you want a table inside, it’s better to book in advance. Specially for the table next to the log fire place.
Having a pint when watching the sunset over the river it’s also great from there, despite there is a main road (A283) in front of the pub. There is also a garden on the back with some wooden tables/chairs. There is also road side parking on the back
Not the best wheelchair accessibility.

Excellent food and friendly staff here. Such a lovely pub we came here twice in our weekend stay in the area.

Nice pub for a drink at the end of a good walk up the downs. Open fire and easy access to the downslink and across the old toll bridge towards Lancing College. Food is available but I haven't tried it so can't comment. Would recommend but beware of low beams as it is very old.

We arrived soaking wet after walking in torrential rain to a warm welcome from both the staff and the regulars; what a wonderfu, friendly bunch of people.
I must mention the choice and condition of the beer; simply superb!
This is how to run a pub!

Beautiful mid October day to sit out and enjoy the sun with friends! The pint and cheesy chips (very nice chips and very cheesy, too 🙂) were a nice addition.

Loved it. After a bit of walking about Shoreham decided to go the extra 10 minutes out of town and wasn't disappointed. Literally just finished and it was great. Good value, helpful staff, great atmosphere.

Had a fabulous Sunday (Mother's day) roast. I'm wheat intolerant and I had an abundance of choices of gluten free options. The food was delicious and the staff were very caring and attentive. Highly reccomend a visit for the cosy atmosphere and delicious food!

First time we have been for a long time. The new owners have made a very good job of renovating the pub, the food was good and the service very friendly.

Nice old pub, good beer. Lunchtime burger and chips very good. They desperately need a coffee machine, dreadful mug of instant. Toilet in desperate need of refurbish. Overall ambience good hence 4 stars.

Lovely friendly place with beautifully cooked food served very promptly. I love the mix of regular customers who clearly love the place and occasional diners and those passing through. Wonderful acceptance of dogs too.

Awesome custom and chats/banter with the locals and my dog loved all the attention. Then sat down and had our favourites being butterfly prawns followed by Ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce - can't beat it....

The live music on a Wednesday night is in a class of its own. Talk about undiscovered gems. The Rude Mechanicals are truly masters of their art.

Visited here a couple of nights ago. The food was really nice and the service was friendly. As soon as I needed tho go and use the toilets...... well, not much to say apart from minging... Red Lion, please spend some money here. They are dirty and outdated...This is not our first visit here, the toilets have been this bad for years.... sorry, but it needed saying.
