Review Rspb Leighton Moss Cafe - Silverdale

A large RSPB nature reserve at the foot of the Lake District. Stunning wildlife and views. Well maintained hides, large carpark and modern visitors centre with toilets. Narrow, bendy roads lead to the nature reserve, so I recommend taking it slow if driving in and out. There are activities for young children, such a pond dipping and bird feeder watching. The reserve is large and even though the paths are solid and well maintained, it can be a trek to some of the hides. I recommend using a wheelchair or mobility scooter to get around the site, if you have difficulty walking long distances. Friendly staff.

Beautiful nature reserve, very nice staff. I like the high platforms to observe the animals, comfortable hides, you can borrow binoculars. My daughter really enjoyed this place.

A great place to visit. I'm a novice when it comes to bird watching, but managed to see a Bittern and 4 Marsh Harriers passing food mid flight. All the hides are easily accessible even with mobility scooters (which are available to hire at the venue). Great cafe and visitors shop. We'll worth a visit

A brilliant reserve with easy access, open viewing platform & hides overlooking the pools. Plenty to see & hear which ever time of year you decide to visit. Including Marsh harriers & booming bitterns. With a walk or short drive to 2 more hides overlooking Morecambe bay.

Fabulous RSPB reserve. Lovely staff, great tearoom. Saw some incredible birds from the hides and Otters!!! A must visit if you're in the area. We were there more than 4 hours! We had breakfast and a late lunch! We got new ticks, Blackcaps, Hobbys, Bittern, Otters!! Also saw Bullfinch, still to be identified Warbler, Greenfinch, Bullfinch etc. Plus Comma, Meadow Brown, Red Admiral butterflies.

I took a break from driving up the M6 for some nature. Well worth the detour. Beautiful part of the world. Peaceful. Friendly staff. The Café a good selection of food.

Absolutley beautiful reserve with long walks in all directions available. I loved the watch tower where you can see out over the reserve and spot your favourite birds. We'll maintained paths and boardwalks. Dog access is restricted due to the nature of the place. Beautiful garden area with ponds for a wander around. Large car park with plenty of space just across the road. Toilets available along with a donation box if visiting out of hours. Really enjoyed visiting here and will definitely be back again. Absolutely beautiful place and we'll maintained.

Lovely place to visit. We had our dog with us so could only visit the public footpath and the hide just off the path, but the path was nice and well maintained, we enjoyed the walk and watching activity from the hide. Not a lot of activity on the very wet day we visited, but we saw an otter as well as coots, mallards, swans, grebe and cormorant etc, so it was worth the visit. The shop is dog friendly and we got takeaway coffee from the cafe, as dogs are not allowed in there.

Lovely location for a day out with children to introduce them to ornithology as well as for serious birdwatchers. Well made paths providing accessibility for all.

We've been coming to a Leighton Moss for many years on and off and have stayed in the area many times. Since the Visitor Centre was set up, many years ago, the visitor facilities are excellent. The reserve itself has some really good hides with extensive views over the marshes and lagoons. There are also several fine and easy trails laid out for people of differing mobility and ability. There's always a friendly and helpful word when you arrive and a good size car park, well laid out too, these days. We had a good walk round and enjoyed what we saw. It was a quiet late morning and afternoon for birds but it was good to visit here again, have some lunch in the cafe and after a bit of pondering, rejoin the RSPB. We've been members, more on than off over many years. It's worth it for free access and parking!! Thanks to all at Leighton Moss!!! Staff AND volunteers.....
