So glad to have an Indonesian restaurant near to us. Ordered the veg tum yum soup, chicken satay, prawn toast, cap cay, mie and nasi goreng. Amazing chef with real people skills welcomed us and made all the food really fresh. Lovely presentation and quick service. Excellent ambience in the restaurant no alcohol being served or bought in, really appreciate the owner for doing this.
Unbelievably good food at very reasonable prices. The Pad Thai was the best we’ve ever had and had so many layers of flavour. The mutton ribs and tempura prawns were on point as well. We will definitely be coming back
We loved the food, restaurant clean, Chef and the Owner are very friendly. Loved Beef Rendang, Taliwang Chicken, Chicken Padthai with rice noodle even better, Chicken Satay best with its peanut sauce. We had dinner family of two. Taste not that spicy as my kids can handle it.
The Indonesian food is extraordinary, make sure to get the chicken satay and the beef rendang. To top it off, the service is very friendly and the prices are more than fair. I only wish it had been a little cozier/warmer, but I'll be back :)
Ordered a takeaway twice from Gula Jawa for my family and I. We all really enjoyed the food including my partner and our 5 children. Everything, yes everything we ordered was tasty. As someone who has been cooking for over 30 years I can tell that the chefs take pride in how they create the meals. Highly recommend. Thanks guys, will come in to eat soon.

Had a takeaway last week and had an absolute delicious meals! I had aromatic rice and chicken taliwang which tasted very authentic.
This place also offers vegetarian menu with mock chicken/duck -not many asian restaurant offers it
Overall, the food was very tasty! I'll recommend satay, chicken taliwang and sweet corn fritters.
If only they offer vegetarian rendang as well, it'll be awesome! Definitely will come back again to try different menu
This place was clean, the food was really nice. However the toilet is outside and the service was slow. The best dish was the beef rendang. The only let down was the lady clearing the tables, she dropped a can of coke and splashed my husband all down his back! No apologies or remorse for ruining his meal and night. Despite this, there’s lots of room for improvement here; better turn around of orders and service and better service at front desk when new customers walk in(no one at desk, had to ring the bell twice) and terrible delay because no one on front desk to spot customers wanting to pay and leave. They need staff that are attentive to customer needs and not have people clearing tables when they are terrible at the job
We had to try Gula Jawa, because I love Beef Rendang and i always like to try other varieties.
They didn't disappoint!!!
We had a meal for 2 which had a good selection, with extra Sambal if you like it hot.
The atmosphere was nice and 2 great guys running it.
I would recommend it!
