Food here is authentic and up to my expectations. Service was great, nice vibes and clean. Highly recommended. Visit this restaurant and enjoy authentic Thai food 🥘
My friend recently moved to Southampton and as she was very fond of Thai food, we decided to meet up at Leelawadee which was just down the road from where she lived. Upon entering, we were immediately welcomed by staff and were sat down. I was very much impressed by the creatively folded serviettes topping each of our plates.
For the mains, I had the duck curry which I found to be quite delicious. The coconut milk based gravy had a perfect blend of spices which created a wonderful concotion of flavours that was accentuated with a slight, subtle creamy sweetness. The curry was perfect once paired with a bowl of coconut rice one can order as a side.
However the papaya green salad was undoubtedly I was most keen on. Beautifully presented, the mixture of freshly cut papaya, carrots, tomatoes, corriander, chili and a spritz of lime made a savoury, sweet, tarty dish packed with a punch (servers will ask you preferred level of spice). Also, my friend offered me some spring rolls she ordered and I found them to be quite tasty as well. It wasn't oily although fried and but was overall light and refreshing.
Although the food was delicious, I found the servings did not reflect the price. This I felt most especially with the coconut rice which was £3+ for an amount you could fit in your palm. There are other Thai restaurants around which are cheaper with similar caliber.
But all in all Leelawadee is a restaurant that's surely worth a visit. Staff were friendly, the service was quick and efficient and my friend and I enjoyed our dining experience whilst having a lovely catch up.
What we liked of the restaurant:
- the food and the taste was very good. We had three types of dishes and all were coocked well with full of taste
- the service is friendly and welcoming
- Thai pankace was an interesting dessert to try. Go for it.
What we did not like:
- the chocolate cake was not great. This is not unexpected as we are in a totally different restaurant and culture.
Had takeaway for a late night arrival in Southampton.
Friendly and very understandable team. We were late for rhe food pick up slot but the food was kept warm.
The food was great. I personally love the generous portion of pad thai which went well with the som tum (green papaya salad)
Amazing food and really friendly staff, we had the steamed spicy sea bass, Pa Nang curry, Som Tam (green papaya salad), and coconut rice.
Everything was very delicious, staff were attentive - a must try!
Curry and Pad Thai are delicious !! Very thailandish eating environment, our server is a very kind and friendly girl.
Best Thai spicy noodles here. Please checkout.
Great little cosy Thai restaurant. Food was delicious and the staff friendly!
Amazing Thai food. Mouthwatering and wholesome. The place is a bit crowded, but the overall environment is cosy and homely.
Best sit down meal in six years of living in Southampton. Rich, lush, genuine Thai cuisine. Although we didnt go before theatre show, will consider this the best option for when we do. Super friendly staff and the owner complimented us with a duo of on the house jagermeisters. Top bananas.
