My favourite pub in town, superb microbrewery which is a must visit for any craft beer fan! Beautiful building, steeping in history, I can’t resist popping in if I’m ever walking by. I’ve never eaten here (as yet) it looks and smells fabulous! Dog friendly and close to a couple of parks and nice walks around the ole walls and right across the road from the ferry for anyone wanting to visit from the IOW! Perfect for a lazy afternoon and a few tasty beers!

I love the Dancing Man, best beer selection in town, great ambience, staff are very cool and their food is delicious. It makes me feel so cosy when I am there. The only downside is that many people feel the same as me and it can get very crowded at times. I will less people liked the place :p

Amazing craft beers, great food, lively atmosphere, service is top notch, all in a beautifully decorated old merchant house. There are lots of tables and a grassy area outside that are ideal in the summer. Our favourite pub in Southampton.

When we visited on a week night the upstairs dining area was closed for a private function. It has a character interior, and as you would expect from a brewery, a good range of beers. The bar staff invite you to try a sample of the beer before you order. My partner enjoyed his beer and I enjoyed a glass of red wine.

Walking by on a visit to Southampton and went in for a pint, both cider and beer very impressive - as is the building itself and the lovely lady on the bar who let us try a few beers. Looking at the menu decided to eat as I fancied the vegan food. On a grey day, we really enjoyed comfort food of Linda with mash and my partner's fish finger sandwich was huge! One thing - he was given crisps rather than chips but it was all for the best really as he ate and drank enough! I liked the notice in the ladies for the ladies convenience - care for the customers. Recommending it to others and we will be back.

We hosted our company meal here for a group of around 50 people and had the whole of the upstairs. We chose the carvery option from their groups menu, along with a starter and dessert. We pre-ordered so allergies and dietary requirements were very easy to accommodate. The venue was beautiful, staff were lovely and really helpful. The food was really good and everyone had a really wonderful night. Highly recommend for this type of event!

Three blobs feels harsh, so let's get the good points listed first. Upstairs is a great place to be as the building is spectacular. The waiting staff were excellent, plying us with food and drink as often as we wanted. Some of the food was good, the baked camembert and pate went down very well, as well as the cheesecake of the day. But then we come to the main course, the reason people go out for meals. Three of us went for the RB6. I can't say whether it was 'as described' as I'd forgotten my old man glasses so was relying on a friend explaining the menu! What none of us expected however (including the friends that had read out the menu) was a metal dish with either a) some dry beef stew with cheese on top (my friend's description), or b) some beef in gravy with new potatoes with cheese on top (my description). Oh, and it had a chunk of bread on the side (why?) with a small pot of horseradish. I was stunningly disappointed by the lack of sophistication, my friends were really peeved with the quality of the beef. The other friend had the stone bass, which was totally overpowered by the ragu accompaniment. Whilst my friends had generally lucked out with their starters and puds, i wasn't so lucky. The cheese straw starter was exactly as promised, a cheese straw with two dips - maybe my own fault?. However my sticky toffee pudding was definitely their fault. A tray bake square totally dry on the sides with no crust is definitely not the unctious end I expected. Unusually for English people, the waiting staff took both barrels after asking if everything was alright with our meal from my friends. That's why I have to knock it down to three, as my friends walked out annoyed despite only one course being bad, but I have to say that all three courses for me were only OK, but the rest of the experience was good. Won't be revisiting, but I'm sure we'll be back to their sister pub The Platform, where the food is superb every time.

Lovely old building that has retained it's historical character, they the bar installed in a great quirky way (e.g a globe, skull and knife used as bar-taps!) Beer is well kept - well worth a visit.

Last minute dash to get a meal travelling in late from London. Staff could not have been more obliging given kitchen closed in less than 30 minutes. I had the vegan ‘Christmas Dinner’. It was the best vegan meal, by far, I have eaten. So much so that my partner, a devoted carnivore, actually regretted ordering a meat course and ate half of mine. The staff were friendly, approachable and attentive. The building was full of historical rustic charm and not fake contemporary old world reproduction. The beer was also excellent, especially Limes Against Humanity. Altogether an excellent dining experience and I would have rated it 6 stars if that were possible. I would actually travel some distance to eat if I lived in the area but as sadly not local, it will be once or twice a year. Just hoping they opt to open a place ‘up North’!

We stumbled across this place by accident, amazing inside with the most incredible roof! Spread over two floors and very unusual. Huge choice of beers with many being totally unique due to the micro brewery to the rear. We didn’t eat here but we did have a couple of beers. Good atmosphere and the bar staff were helpful, advising us on the beers and letting us try them before we bought them! Good experience.

Great selection of beers in top condition. Great food and service. Staff friendly and thoughtful, showing us to a lift so we could sit on upper floor. The DMB burger is outstanding. The building is a delight, beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Thoroughly recommended.

I took my parents for Sunday lunch and we were all blown away. Fantastic service, warm greeting, attentive throughout our visit. My folks hadn’t been before so were in awe of the venue and the food was out of this world. Both my parents had roasts, pork and beef which would have caused me enormous food envy had I not opted for their pie of the day which was scrumptious. We didn’t have room for pudding but ordered them anyway and then found the room- they were just that good! 10/10. Best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had in Southampton.

May have caught them on an off day after reading the reviews for this restaurant. It took over an hour to get food (Sunday roast) which was okay but it could have been better/warmer. Good beer though and staff were pleasant enough.

We went here Friday night after travelling down from London. Two of our party got stuck in traffic but the staff were so lovely. No pressure on us to order, and even offered to cook for us even though some of our party arrived after restaurant closing. Lovely setting upstairs, food was excellent, really good no nonsense honest grub. We wish we lived nearer so we could come more often. Keep up the good work and thank you to all the staff who were so helpful.
