Had fish and chips tonight from this place best ever fish and chips, highly recommend and the staff are very friendly.
Super food and super customer service! We ordered a variety of food for over 50 people for a camp out. J Henry's delivered our food at the required time and everything was hot and correct. About to place an order for our next camp out now! Many thanks and would definitely recommend.
EDIT - Have had multiple large fish and chip orders for various events from Sonny and his team since I wrote this review. J Henry's have never let us down and have always delivered piping hot, good quality food. You can't find better than that!

Just tucking into the cod and chips now, fish is perfectly portioned, flaky and tastes of the sea, lovely and fresh. Batter is really crisp even after driving 10 minutes to get home, everything was cooked to order. Temperature is good and the chips are tasty. Lovely fish and chips dinner
Update June 2022, after a fun family day out to the unwrapped event, treated with a fish and chips with a bit of of a Saveloy sausage and curry sauce. Really fresh fish can definitely taste this, lovely batter crisp, not oily at all and flavour is outstanding. Chips were good, Saveloy toasty and lovely curry sauce. Keep up the good work.
Update March 2024, came into hedge end village today and decided to go grab lunch at J Henry's fish and chips, they have a lunch time special for £6.50 either a cod or haddock with chips, a decent price and a very decent portion, all cooked fresh to order, chips have a good crunch and fluffy interior, the haddock was perfect, crisp batter, flaky fish and tasted so fresh, best of all it was not greasy at all, got to the bottom of the take away box and no puddles of oil, perfect and consistent quality
I stumbled across this fish and chip shop about a month ago.. and we had the fish and chip special… honestly say it’s the best I’ve had for a very long time and great value for money with lovely staff…. We been a couple of times since and took my mum on good Friday… once again fabulous.. will continue to pop in from time to time even though we come from Portsmouth.. keep up the good work ♥️
On my way home to Windsor I was driving through Hedge End n I felt hungry. Stopped at J Henry's Fish and chips shop... highly recommended absolutely beautiful.
Not only the food was delicious, the customer service was first class. The young lady who served me (scarlet) is definitely an asset.
I'm now on my way to Windsor again but I would drive back there again as I haven't had fish n chips like since I can't remember 👌😊

Amazing from start to finish. Shop was queueing out the door which shows just how popular this chip shop is. Food is always fresh and piping hot, not to mention perfect cooking of the large cod I ordered and my wifes small cod also. Sonny is a lovely young lad always friendly and says hello. Can’t recommend enough. Staff are friendly are very helpful. Worth every penny
I had a take away of Cod, chips and mushy peas.
I was not disappointed.
I don’t like the skin on my fish so I was very pleased when the skin was removed before cooking.
The meal was well cooked and very tasty.
Didn't waited long for food but was freshly cooked. The portions are very with plenty of chips and a nice large piece of fish with crispy batter.
Superb freshly cooked haddock, (ordered 2 large fish but they gave us an extra one as they didn't think they were very big - they were!) Thoroughly enjoyed with chips & mushy peas. Moved here last year & been meaning to try this place out, we'll definitely be back for more!

First let me say fabulous piece of cod, well cooked and hot. Always enjoy the food from these guys. Unfortunately I had the above delivered by Uber eats, and though the service was good, the amount of chips in the serving was embarrassing. I reckon there was 25 at the most¡. Very disappointing on this occasion.
Love their food and your staff! I forgot my can of pop because I was wrangling children, one of their guys ran down the road waving it to make sure I didn't go home without it. Amazing service!
We always get our chippy tea from J Henry and it’s always lovely.
We got married a couple weeks ago, and decided to use them to feed our guests. How they managed to cook 83 meals is mind blowing to me. The handover was super smooth and fast and everyone enjoyed their meals. My friend, who had travelled over from America, who has never had fish and chips before was super impressed, saying it was delicious! Another friend, who was a vegetarian until she was tempted by a battered sausage, said it was the best battered sausage she ever had!
Thank you to all who helped cook our meals, it was great and so yummy. Best chip shop around.
Ordered from here tonight for the first time and I gotta say it was the best fish I think I’ve ever had! I was skeptical about how it would be when it arrived, as I used Deliveroo, but the batter was still crispy and nothing needed reheating, so credit to the delivery driver too. I ordered the Large Haddock which I would recommend and some chicken strips (which was just as good). Definitely will be going here again for the Friday fish and chips. 5 stars!
