The cafe is really spacious, with chairs or sofas (and cafe tables, dining tables or coffee tables) to choose from, above the bustle but with views over Portswood Road, and the staff are very friendly.
Always good prices and great staff on hand to help.
The park outside is very helpful as well.
I definitely didn't have any issues like the previous reviews. Our meal was really nice, the food took a little bit of time to get to us but it was extremely busy. We ordered really good food and the portion sizes were good, average sized and were tasty. It wasn't that expensive to be honest either. Choose wisely though as some dishes from previous reviews state too have said that some are over priced. Our meal was around ÂŁ12-15 which was reasonable for what we had. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our experience and we would go back if in the vicinity.
Like this place, service time is variable from sensible to disappointing, the food is good and all of the prices are low, so I can’t really complain about anything. The staff are friendly and helpful, anything you need is available, and the soft drinks machine is not too bad, better at least than maccies.
Overall, I would recommend to someone who just wants a cheap lunch in good portions.
Good points: Their toasted teacakes are the best! Some of the other food is pretty good too (the fries, especially the sweet potato ones, mmm, the soups). Also the staff are very friendly.
Bad points: The cutlery is often not clean. The main meals are variable.
Hallumi breakfast. Fantastic, well cooked and hot. Perfect.
Alex served us and was brilliant! He was knowledgeable and went out of the way to find a vegetarian option for us and made our experience very enjoyable.
Cheapest English breakfast in Soton (perhaps) on the first floor...senior friendly facility...recommend the roast pork knuckle!
