Great spot with very nice food. Thoroughly enjoyed the coq au vin and sticky lamb dishes, and the cod goujons from the kids was very good and great value. My daughter also loved the Bumbleberry juice!

A quiet, elegant dining room, helpful staff and terrific choice of music from 1960's through to early 1980's while we were there.
A lovely meal and attentive but not intrusive service.
The only downside was access, impossible for a wheelchair.

This place was the perfect way to experience English culture! We walked around southend and just had to come in! Visited Southend in Sea and popped for Sunday lunch at The Royal. One of the best lunches I have ever tasted. Sat outside overlooking the sea. Service was good, quick and polite. Food arrived piping hot. Good price for 2 courses.
Great service, fun friendly staff. Coronation chicken wrap and ships were excellent. Beetroot humous needed more flavour. Scotch egg was good. Tried the Maldon wine, decent. Good prices.

Food and service way above what I expected. Very friendly staff, and that chef...make sure you pay him well or you'll lose him for sure. Only moan was cheese cake portion was way to small for price.

Went with my partner for his birthday dinner and cocktails on a Thursday night which was steak night..the food was amazing and the staff went above and beyond with their service ..even making us cocktails that weren't on the menu x Will definitely recommend The Royal Hotel 👌
Only popped in after a stroll down the peer and ordered food and cocktails.
The food was excellent and for the price we paid well worth the money. I've ate in places where you pay twice as much and the food isn't a patch on the Royal Hotel food.
