We stayed at Craigtoun Meadows campsite in our campervan and had dinner at The Smoked Thistle on the Saturday night. The food was amazing, best burgers we have had and the kids loved it too. Would highly recommend. Authentic American BBQ food. Great service too.

Absolutely phenomenal food!! We are Americans in Scotland and this place has THE best American-style food around. It's always delicious and filling. Definitely a favorite in our house!

Went with friends after a walk around town. Restaurant is in middle of a fantastic activity area, totally safe and limited access to ensure safeplay area. We had the four meats and three side option. Wow totally blown away by the size and tase of best meat scotland can produce, the food was just excellent. Our server was a lovely lass who took time to explain all details of the menu. The gold medal goes to the chief who gave us a full BBQ meal in the middle of winter. I'm looking forward to next time we are in the area. We'll worth the journey from Dundee.

We love this place!
The food is spectular, portions are HUGE.
Super friendly staff who remembered us from our 1st visit in August. The place was recommended to us by our B&B hosts and it was so good we went back the next night. We were back up for a couple nights and spent another 2 nights enjoying the food and the company.
Already planning driving back to St Andrews on a day trip just to try their new menu.

Been a couple of times now. Brisket wrap and Burger were both delicious and chips are great. Mac cheese is well worth it too. Looking forward to going back to try milkshakes!

2nd visit in as many days. Previous night I feasted on the brisket and pulled pork but this time opted for a chilli burger. So good I could easily have had another, sweet potato chips awesome, some of the best I have tasted. Service great and friendly. Nice cakes for dessert too.

As an American currently living in Fife, can confirm this barbeque is legit! 10/10 food and 10/10 atmosphere. Definitely worth the trek from St Andrews and looking forward to going back.

The Smoked Thistle at Craigtoun Meadows Caravan Site in St Andrews has been open a couple of weeks now.
We have had lunch in the restaurant and a take away meal.
For lunch we had pea and ham soup which was delicious (and a huge portion).
We shared a meat platter with an extra of onion rings. The portions were very large and very tasty indeed.
We planned to have cake but were too full! A treat for another day.
For the take away meal we has 1 Chicken burger (actually chicken breast), one Brisket burger (real brisket slices so burger is perhaps a misnomer) with some fries and some sweet potato fries. All superb.
The quality of the food is really good.
Take away food is ordered via a good eat App and we encountered problems with that and how it linked to the restaurant but we overcame this by direct messaging the Smoked Thistle. We let Ross know and he is checking it out to resolve any IT glitches. So if you try to book and have a problem send a message and the guys will sort it out.
Hopefully this new venture will get the support it deserves and we wish them well.
Looking forward to trying other dishes.
