Had a great one night stop here with our 2 dogs. Nice dinner and breakfast. Lovely, friendly helpful staff. We've stopped here a few times over the years and it's always good. Didn't get to use the heated indoor pool this time.. don't forget your costumes for a swim and a sauna.
Stayed for 3 nights - clean & comfortable room, good facilities (small pool & gym), easy to park, great breakfast & evening meal - pet friendly too (always a bonus) - highly recommend
Had beautiful steak and all the trimmings at The Forge today - still full hours later!

Just returned from two night here and so happy we found you, will definitely be back. Room 10 was superb for us having two large dogs. Spacious. Parking right outside. Food was glorious, hot, great portions and no pretentiousness. Didn't have time to try the pool but that gives us something to look forward to coming back. From the moment I enquired on email the service levels were superb. Great independent business, long may you continue.

Ok, so this was actually a lot better than I expected......
I was hesitant when I read through the reviews a couple of days before I stayed here this weekend. Some mentioned food poisoning, whilst others mentioned rude staff and dated rooms.
However, check-in was good (the staff were very friendly and welcoming) and the rooms were clean and smell free. I've stayed in many hotels before, ranging from 5 stars to 3 stars, and this is perfectly adequate for the rating. Just remember this is a MOTEL, so it's not your typical chain!
On site, there are a variety of different rooms, from Family to Twin to Doubles. There is a bar and restaurant area, and a small swimming pool (which does actually look a lot more inviting than in the pictures). It does feel like you are walking back in time when in your room and in the bar area/restaurant/pool (it's extremely 80s), but it's clean and tidy at the end of the day.
I would like to mention that the 'Fitness Suite' is not a fitness suite...... it's a treadmill and a rowing machine, so don't be tempted by this!
Cooked breakfasts are now served 7 days a week, and my family who were also staying mentioned that the cooked breakfasts were fine for the price (nothing special, but edible)!
So overall, don't go in with super high expectations of white walls, modern decor and a chain hotel standard..... it's an independent Motel at the end of the day, and from what I've seen and experienced, it is good value for money, and a perfectly pleasant place to stay.
Very nice food at a sensible price. We had food from the lighter meals range and they were very filling. I had a vegetarian ploughmans and it was all fresh and very tasty. Definitely recommended!
Stopped off here with my mum after a long drive from London back to Pembs. We each had the 10oz steak and it was bloody lovely! Mum ate the lot and declared it to be the best meal she’d had for eons. Great work Firehouse! 👏🏻Highly recommend, whether it’s a drop in on the way home/through Pembs, or to visit it as a restaurant in its own right (i heard the Sunday carvery is to die for! 🤤. Worth the trip and great value to boot. 💯👌🏻
The staff and service was first class. The food itself seemed as though it was made from cheap ingredients. For example.. the pork/beef mince in the lasagne was like the frozen supermarket 'own brand' type. Goes mushy when cooked.
I can see the reviews for a Sunday carvery are good and in all honesty the photo's of the food make it look delicious, so I may go back at some point but not for the main menu
Thank you for your response. We sent the naan bread back as we could've used it as a frisbee lol. The staff were very apologetic ... We were glad there was a steak knife on the same plate as the garlic bread, as my sister needed it to cut into her battered fish.
So no, we didn't bring it to the attention of the management, but the staff were made aware and couldn't apologise anymore than they already did 😀
Just had Sunday carvery. It was excellent. All home cooked food and the cauliflower cheese was exceptional. Can't fault it.
Stopped for breakfast made to feel very welcome with the dog food was excellent had just finished serving breakfast but made us one anyway everything freshly cooked and very tasty highly recommended 😋
Forgot to leave a review a couple months ago but Kelen was my waitress and she was an absolute star!!! I had the lasagne which she told me would be scrumdiddlyumptious and she was damn right! Love this place, love the food, love the service, the kids were buzzing!! Definitely coming here again, the vibes were immaculate as my kids say!! My kids are excited to use the pool next time! Wahoo! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely place to stop of for a bite to eat. Hotel also . Lovely staff. Moderate prices. Table service. Disability parking. Free parking. Outdoor garden.
I don't normally leave a review until after I've checked out but this place is fantastic, more places are needed like this in the UK. Bedrooms with all you'd expect, a Petrol Station on-site, a restaurant with fantastic food and they have an indoor swimming pool to boot, unbelievable!

What can I say. My wife and I were visiting the area as we were looking to move here and we’re visiting properties. This was an ideal base and the large icing on the cake was the service we received from all the staff and the really good food. The staff could not do enough to cater for our unusual eating habits due to our medical conditions. I would totally recommend a stop if passing for a great meal or like us if you need accommodation as well.
Variety of breakfasts choices. Lovely food and service. Definitely recommend for breakfast.

They need a large sign to show they are open or they will.miss a lot of passing trade which will be a shame.

We were staying local as my son wanted a "cabin" stay for his 8th birthday, the literature in the cabin listed this restaurant and a few others, after looking at the reviews online we thought let's give it a go.
And it didn't disapoint, relatively quiet when we went in, we were promptly seated and given menus,we ordered our drinks and food which was piping hot when it came and very nice, the only criticism I did have was that there was way too much food, our daughter said they were bigger than the portions we had in Bulgaria and the States.
The bill was reasonable for the 4 of us, the food was very nice so we will definitely be back the next time we are down this way.

This place, I used to stay regularly 35 years ago. Food was lush. Could not get the television to work unfortunately
