Nice little green king pub on the outskirts of Stafford town. A play area for the kids and plenty of parking.
Star of the show here is the carvery which is very nicely prepared but they do offer a whole menu outside of the Carvery.
There garlic bread starter is to die for and would recommend this to anyone

The atmosphere is good the staff friendly and helpfull . The carvery selection is good also. Turkey gammon beef etc The pub is clean but gets busy weekends. Better to book a table in ADVANCE. Quieter during week. Always warm inside and smells like of food when you walk in. Nice gently music plays. Always get asked if everything is satisfactory? Personal touch is good. The meat assistant was very polite and stated to come back if any of the food is not up to standard..
Excellent experience.

I am someone who doesn't usually go for a carvary due to finding them massively underwhelming. How ever after visiting Stafford hospital me and my wife went here for a treat after. It was simply delicious. The atmosphere was alive and every customer seemed happy. There was a lady who was serving the meat who was the most friendliest person I have ever met. She genuily was happy to serve people and the food was amazing. The food was hot and fresh, the meat was juicy and tender and the roasties were importantly very crispy. If we are ever in Stafford again we will surely be there. I must also add that this visit was a Sunday so extra points for amazing service on a manic day 😀

Brilliant. We had a early Xmas family meal here and it was brilliant. Good range of different foods for all ages and vegetarians. The children were entertained because it has a small soft play inside. I had the carvery, food was tasty, service was quick and price was good, place was clean and décor was normal pub décor. Overall very good.

Went for a carvery with family. Service was good especially from the lady on the carvery who let my son try some cauliflower cheese as she heard him say he wasn't sure if he liked it. She also cut a Yorkshire in half for him as they were huge. Food was hot and we all enjoyed it.

I've been here twice now for a carvery and the first time the veg was perfect, the second time the carrots and sprouts were still hard, which I'm not keen on. That said, the food overall is tasty and the onion gravy is delicious. The staff have always been really helpful and friendly. We've not tried the main menu but from what we've seen it looks good.

Maggie behind the carvery counter was lovely. So welcoming and friendly. She managed to deal with the queue of people by operating quickly, but still providing a great service. Food was also delicious. Would highly recommend

We go here once every couple of months or so, I've got to say the lady (Maggie) on the carvery is always lovely. She's always has a smile for us and is just generally a very nice lady. The quality of the carvery is much improved since my last review, reasonably priced as well.

My friend and I ate mid week about 5pm. Young ladies clearing tables were very friendly. Older lady behind bar was not friendly or welcoming. Acted as if we were a pain having to be served with a grumpy face if I'm honest. I had the carvery the young man serving was very friendly and polite and asked me how I was and chatted with me. Carvery food was really nice tasty and plentiful. Good value also I thought my friend had a different dish unsure what it was so can't comment.
The pub inside is still rather dark and needs brightening up a bit really. I am going to visit again with another friend next week and I have recommended to family and friends how nice the food was.

Maggie on the carvery counter is the best!! She went above and beyond when we thought all hope was lost. Carvery shuts at 2.30pm. As we were waiting for the kids meals to arrive, we weren't aware of the carvery closing time. Maggie was packing away, but supplied us with the most amazing dinner. Brought gravy and yorkshire puds to the table straight from the kitchen. Was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We love Maggie 💪

Fantastic value for the carvery!
Madge was lovely and friendly too!

Booked a family gathering meal and it did not disappoint despite me arriving an hour early.
The staff were lovely and the carvery wholesome and well cooked.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and setting.
Thanks everyone.

Been here many times and it is what you'd expect . However over the years I've found the bar staff very mixed even to the point once of writing to them . Went in today just for a coffee and was amazed by the greeting from the lady behind the bar . Bright , friendly and cheery . What a change . And I watched her greeting others and always being on hand to help . She was even brilliant at up-selling in a very nice manner . Fabulous . If ever Greene and King need someone to do customer service training this is the girl for the job .

I went to the Radford for a carvery, fortunately they had finished serving carveries. In need of a proper meal with veg I found myself at the Kings Horse (a first for me)
I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Maggie, she was an absolute breath of fresh air, she is polite, courteous, friendly , engaging, I was genuinely blown away, if I owned a public facing business I would beg her to work for me. She’s genuinely a superstar and I sincerely hope she progresses within your company.
Thank you just for being you 5*

Would just to say thanks for making my visit for dinner this evening enjoyable.
The pub was really busy but this didn’t seem to phase the staff that were taking the orders for food/drinks.
Many thanks to Dan who not only helped me out with my Defence Discount Card but also my registration for parking as I wasn’t aware you had to book in.
I had the carvery and my husband choose the loaded chicken which according to him was very tasty.

First visit and really liked our drinks and the service on a very hot day! Some good air conditioning and felt spacious.
Not a day to opt for a roast dinner but the food looked very good.

Lovely Tuesday lunch carvery, the lady behind the carvery could not have been more friendly and helpful. Just a really really nice person.
Pub was too loud for us, but that isnt really their fault, its a family pub and im deaf. :D
We would totally go back. :)

Visited today for the first time, apart from the beautiful huge exterior and the cleanliness of the restrooms everything was terrible. Service was incredible slow... with the queue to the bar 20 people deep!! And servers still worked at there own leisurely speed chatting and talking to other employees while customers waited patiently. Being a duty Manager in an establish quite like this one it is evident that staff need training to be refreshed how to work with appropriate speed when working on the till. The deck was dry and had little meat considering it being dinner time on a Saturday afternoon. Not quite sure why the sauces were in a completely different place to the gravy. Paying nearly five pound for a microwaved jam roll poly was the icing on the cake, with burnt edges with solidified jam stuck on the plate it was a terrible experience. Unfortunately I won’t be returning if service doesn’t change, understanding that it was extremely busy and that there were a few big parties there service needs improvement to be able to deal with this.

visited there with my granddaughter daughter & son in law, I must say the service was shockingly bad, both my wife and I have worked at some of the top hotels and restaurants, both serving Royalty on several occasions. most of the staff couldn't brake a smile if you paid them, my wife tried to engage with one waitress and I use that term loosely, and she still persisted to walk around with a face like a smacked arse, ridiculously long queues, for both food and drinks, on one point I finally got to the front only for the supervisor to say sorry and walk away to seat someone, I used to wait on table for a 50 seat dinning room single handed every Sunday, DOUBLE sitting each table, you staff need training and proper supervision, only one lady behind the bar had any customer service talent . the final straw was the way the server threw the lemon meringue pie, onto the table. truly bad service

Absolutely awful service tonight. We have been to this hungry horse before and had a wonderful meal but tonight was like entering a completely different pub. I ordered a carvery and my partner a steak medium/rare. Firstly the steak was served rare... so rare that you couldn’t eat it. And the cavery was absolutely diabolical, the beef on the deck was so dry it looked like it had sat there all day, the turkey was ok, the carver went through every Yorkshire pudding to give me and all were rock solid, and the stuffing looked as if it was welded to the pot. I wish I had taken a picture! Will not be coming here again, very disappointed.

Good food for a good price and the portion sizes never disappoint!

Although it was very busy. We were found a table straight away. The service was good and the food nicely presented and hot, very good value . It was a perfect place for a meal after a busy day out.

Went on Tuesday evening.. carvery had been out all day by the look off it.. just crumbs of the Gammon left. I had Turkey and beef well one tiny bit of beef and lots off fat and skin from the Turkey.. all veg was cold didn't have lids on all the flys about not very good at all. Think skin on the gravy yuk! Condiments needed a good wipe around and maybe putting in a fridge the horseradish had curdled.. sat waiting about 20 minutes for a desert. While waiting many members off staff walked by without taking our finished plates.. so we had to sit and watch flies around the left over food. I know it's summer but why wouldn't you clear it straight away?? Would not recommend to anyone been a few time and nothing has changed.

The big burrito was not toasted and it never had beans in it or ketchup the mushrooms looked liked they’d seen better days. My mum had scrambled egg on toast the toast was hard and the eggs was not freshly made, I had the breakfast and it was cold. We’d had a long journey to Stafford and was hungry as we had a long journey back to Brighton I was very disappointed

Very busy ordered food waited over an hr food was nice but no body came over during eating our meal and asked if everything was ok? We bought drinks throughout the evening but no one collected any empty glasses over the 4hrs we were there, Even when we left at the end of the night our plates were still there which was shocking won't be rushing back!

poped in with the kids as in the aera. At lunch time there was only 1 person serving at the bar and as i had to leave the kids alone at the table to order wasnt impressed with the slow service. Then the kids menu is wrong as they dont do milkshakes at this one. Fingers crossed that the food comes out correctly as she struggled with the till whilst inwas ordering and hopefully nice.
** both kids meals came out wrong on plates that hot i couldnt even touch them but at least the food was nice**

We are regular customers we probably eat there at least once maybe twice a week today we decided to have a carvary which was a big mistake it was cold and not up to scratch, firstly whilst we were waiting to be served the chef who was dealing with the couple in front of us complaining of the quantity of food was poor as all the dishes we’re virtually empty he returned with what was supposed to be stuffing which was inedible which he dropped half the amount over the counter the rest was placed inside the dish with the rest of the so called stuffing (I would call it rubber)the carving of the meat was shocking it was shredded meat not sliced, the rest of the items were either over cooked or under the overall quality was very poor and disappointing,we did speak to a member of staff to air our concerns which was pretty much a waste of time as the guy we spoke to didn’t really want to know as the excuse was we have been busy which wasn’t the case when we were there which was around 2pm all he said was he will talk to the chef which he called him mat,the issue is there was no consistency or organisation the area around the carvary needs more improvement & care we will definitely not be eating there again.

Come to the quiz every Friday night and have food. Don’t expect too much as it’s a standard pub but never has a huge issue with any food. Staff always friendly but one lady in particular who stands out every week is MAGGIE, always friendly, happy, welcoming and attentive to us. works extremely hard and never seems stops even in all this hot weather. Any problems we’ve had she has always made sure they’ve been brought to attention and sorted out promptly. Definitely an asset to have at the pub, she’s amazing at her job and a hard worker.

Painfully slow service tonight. Only ordered 3 meals, one of them being a children’s meal. Waited for 45 minutes before asking if they knew how long it was going to take to be told “5 minuets” to be still waiting another 15 minutes later. Such a shame as food itself was nice. Then had to wait a further 30 minutes for pudding, asked for a take away box in the end. Was told by the waitress we were given extra scoops of ice cream for our troubles to notice actually we weren’t given anything extra! Few more hands are needed, only saw a handful of staff throughout the whole pub
