With our good friends, we visit different pubs for a drink or a meal regularly, the Bird in Hand was one of our best experiences.
So the visit was for no special reason, but can not fault the friendliness and service levels from start to finish!
Add excellent food and great ales and our first visit will not be our last.
Thanks for looking after us so well.
The bar staff were very welcoming, it is dog friendly too. We had a drink and meal. The meals were very good, nice and hot. I had steak and kidney pudding, chips and peas (very nice). Jenny had Mexican chicken.
We had to book a social lunch at the last minute for our road biking group when the Spittal Brook closed unexpectedly.
We had an excellent lunch, food was first class and great value for money.
15 folks sat down and served inside 10 minutes because we pre ordered using the Facebook page, would highly recommend it for any group but even better because they have a separate function room.
Service was superb, pleasant friendly and helpful people, what more could you ask for.
Choice of beers very good, quality pint!
We wil be going again soon.
Went there yesterday on our day off never had a drink in Stafford before but wow what a pub as usual Black Country Ales do their pubs up to a very high standard I had 2 pints of real ale then settled for the still cider superb staff nothing was to much trouble top class place
Just had tea at our favourite pub in Stafford, food was fantastic, beers lovely and a great selection and even a nice brew after my food. Staff are fantastic and nothing is so much trouble. Lovely cosy pub and just what you need on a cold winters night. X.
First visit to Stafford yesterday and had a recommendation to call in here from a cousin.
We called in for lunch and they did not disappoint.
The menu was spot on and the pricing is brilliant!
We really could not fault the place, friendly staff, nothing too much trouble for them. Will definitely call again if in Stafford.
Just a lovely place, Terry and Dee are fabulous people, so accommodating...we take the dog into the bar and he’s spoiled rotten. The food is fabulous and the function room is excellent.
Fantastic transformation of a once run down pub. Great beer range, friendly staff and an extensive beer garden make it superb.
Oh, and given that it's my local, I will definitely be back!
Fantastic pub, lots of decent drinks choices on offer. Friendly staff and an incredible refurbishment. A dozen times much better!!
In the beer garden yesterday on a Sunday sunny afternoon drinking lovely G&T's with a bunch of friends fabulous little pub... never been before but will definitely be back loved it.
The snug in the Bird has reduced the lighting level to something more cosy and now has a real fire in it! It's significantly raised the bar in Snuggery. Really improved on what was already a place of many fond (if somewhat hazy) memories. :)
Smashing little pub well its a lot bigger in the inside. Nice selection of ale. It has huge curb appeal as you approach and a friendly welcome awaits when you venture in there.
Great pub, recently refurbished really good atmosphere great selection of beers. Well worth a visit
Very nice pub, less than a 5 minute walk from the train station with a good range of ales, lagers and spirits. I tried the Pig on the Wall from the local Black Country Brewery which was very moreish and although we didn't have food it did look good and very well priced.
The pub is split into various areas and shows live sports as well. Plenty of room, even for a weekend and it is possible to reserve a table if you're worried about getting in on busier nights.
Highly recommended pub and well worth a visit if you are visiting Stafford or have time for a swift pint while you wait for a train connection.
Definitely a contender for one of the best pubs in the Black Country Ales chain.
It was busy just after 12 noon, which was good to see.
No drama to try before you buy with the sociable male bartender.
Look forward to popping back.
Having been working in Stafford for the last week, my colleagues and I were eager to find a local pub which would allow us to escape a hard-day's work.
We frequented the Bird in Hand most nights and we all enjoyed the warm welcome, competent selection of ales and larger and 'bar snacks,' we were all massive fans of the Scotch eggs & rolls - there is also Sky Sports in the bar which was a nice addition, but did not consume the whole pub.
The staff were very friendly and engaging, they added real value to our evenings - we all hope to return again soon!
A really cosy little gem in the heart of Stafford. Staff are really friendly and the carvery is amazing! They even do a dog carvery which our dog Merlin loved. Really dog friendly. Great range of real ales and ciders too. Would definitely recommend.
I used to drink here as a student 50 years ago. I am very pleased to say nothing has changed for the worse. They now serve far better food and beer but the atmosphere is the same. TV was way too loud though.. I am not that deaf yet. Though I might be if I sit in the front bar too often.
Was here for a Civil Partnership reception on Saturday.
Old pib vibes inside with a more modern outside seating space (lots of seats & rain cover)
The staff were all friendly & helpful
The buffet food was a good standard
The atmosphere was nice
Loos, we're well kept.
I think we might try their Sunday carvery soon sounds nice.
Love this place. It’s a REAL pub. Great range of ales, nice food and fabulous service. Bar area, lounge with real fire and a lovely outdoor area. The staff are great. You can try thirds of all the ales. #RealAle
We were looking for a place to eat with the dog. Very happy with our choice. Good valve, tasty pub grub. We had a lovely welcome and our dog was made very welcome.
Lovely food, good service, traditional friendly pub & fairly priced). Not many pubs left now that offer a wide range of food choices (in Stafford). Would recommend we support local businesses like the Bird. Would visit again.
Ignore any poor reviews, we ate here tonight lovely quality food very well priced, great choice of beers super friendly staff, probably the best pub in town.
