Had a party here yesturday for my daughter's 8th birthday Harry potter theme for 20 children and wow!! Staff were so patient and nothing was too much for them the food was amazing and lots of it! I really liked the hot chocolate butter beers cant thank you all enough and highly recommend to try this place. Thanks again to all the staff that were there yesturday xx
Great bar and great food and very friendly staff and some great real ales well worth a visit I highly recommend this pub
Awesome sandwiches and great ales too. Good starting place for a round of ales in Stalybridge. I believe the drinks at this establishment led to me being refused a meal at Spoons for excessive 'swaying'. Touché.
Awesome place, if you are within 10 miles of this place, make the pilgrimage - you won’t be disappointed!
Always make the buffet bar every time I visit my family. Good atmosphere, great staff and food as well as the great variety of booze
Fabulous Vegan Sherperds Pie, Black Peas and lovely thick gravy. Great tast, big meal and good value for money at around £5.00 Well worth a visit
This pub is quite a special little gem and the staff are lovely, you really cannot go wrong for the bear is excellent and so are the pies xxx
Started the day here before moving on to the Yanks weekend at Upper Mill. Great beer. Excellent ambience. Great staff. One of my favourite places in the world to get drunk.
Favourite pub in Manchester! Great beers, food, staff and historic interest.
What an amazing place this is would thoroughly recommend to all.
Best place for beer and pies in the UK. Superb staff and fantastic decor. Perfect!
We visited this pub yesterday for the first time during a trip on the ale train. The food was absolutely delicious the perfect accompaniment with a nice cold beer!! I can't wait to visit again and try something different.

The pulled pork muffin is to die for mmmmmm would go back just for that
Just had my first visit after seeing the beer selection on a Facebook post. A great range of cask and craft on keg including Big Dipper (my favourite). I had a Hat-trick by magic rock, which Ive not seen anywhere else. Great bottle selection too. The owner and staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Will be visiting again and again and bringing friends. Unfortunately I was driving otherwise I would have been there all night.
Great start to the ale trail ( or end). Totally unpretentious. Just quality beer, decent food and a special atmosphere of a bygone age.
I love the fact that this place seems so adaptable to different occasions whether it's for afternoon tea, trying out the food or guest ales (not me personally) or just meeting up with friends. It's a lovely little place with a great atmosphere and well decorated with local historical artefacts (mainly train related obviously).
Iconic multi room real ale pub on Stalybridge rail station. Many real ales, due to train times only managed two halves, don't miss the last train ! Pub stuffed full of railwayana as you would expect. 🍺🍺👍👍
Little gem. Real ales n pies. Real open fire. Trendy plumbing
An all time favourite of mine with the added bonus (Tuesday afternoon) of folk musicians having a jam. Always a fresh new beer to try out and I’ve never been disappointed. If you’re arriving by train try and get in first and get your round in to avoid queues. If your venturing further down the line after, take on provisions here - the pies are excellent. Remember the platforms across the tracks are further than you think❗️
16/06/23: great choice of craft ale. Set on the platform of Stalybridge Station. Lovely relaxed atmosphere!
Super location on the station platform, excellent range of beers at reasonable prices
What a lovely quirky place for a good beer and scratchings like something off the telly
Wonderful couple of hours yet again in one of my favourite places in the UK , Beer was excellent as always (and the Pork Pies !!) Phil was amiable, informative, knowledgeable and had great taste in music !!… if you’re ever in the vicinity (or even if your not) make time to go here - you won’t regret it 👍
As good as it sounds. Real cider and vert good range of beer. Proper pork scratchings.
Great real ales, open fire and authentic buildings. Less than 15 minutes journey from Mcr Piccadilly station. When meals are available again it will be as good as it's pre pandemic self.
Great station pub
Interesting old-fashioned decor.
Piano available to play.
Helpful staff.
Nice ales.
