Fantastic Sunday lunch here today! Family of 7 dining, all had Sunday roast and deserts, which were fabulous! Have recommended to friends already. Very very nice.
This place changed hands in May 2020 and wow, what an awesome young team run it now. Great vibe & decor, really delicious food & excellent wine list too. Really can't recommend it highly enough.
They offer a menu of "tasting plates" to encourage conversation & sharing across the tables & we loved being able to order more than one thing as it was hard to choose from the great selection.
It also feels very spacious and hence safe during this last phase of Covid-19 restrictions - we ate in the main building but the igloos in the courtyard looked great for another time!
Excellent Restaurant. First class service from 3 incredible men, what a team! Food was divine and presentation outstanding. Beautiful restaurant with fabulous decor. You won't be disappointed, be it out as a couple or out with friends/family.
Stayed here for one night after being invited to a friends birthday in town, sadly didn’t have time to eat an evening meal but the small plates menu looked great. The room was lovely, everything you’d hope for for a short stay in a county pub. Complementary espresso martinis in the room, comfortable bed, clean and tidy. The real highlight was the staff who were so friendly but not over baring. Clearly passionate about what they do which comes through in the service they give. Good breakfast in the morning as well. All for such a reasonable price!
Spent a lovely weekend here. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Really nice rooms and the breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be back!!
Excellent Sunday lunch, you continue to provide amazingly tasty food and wine, with exemplary service in a lovely environment. Our daughter realised that she might not be in time, and we deliberated between being late or cancelling her seat, but you were very accommodating. Thank you to the whole team for providing such high standards all round.
Truly excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Very interesting wine selection. No rush, laid back, no push to get the table back. I hesitate to call it tapas style, it's plate sharing at an incredibly high standard. Nearly every dish perfect and memorable. It's not cheap and it shouldn't be. It is very good value for original creative food.
Great supper here - really interesting and inventive menu of sharing plates, delicious food and wine and superb service. All within walking distance. Definitely will be returning
Amazing food & fantastic service from our waiter, were really sad that the place is closing down on the 28th May 😥 were happy we got to have one final meal.
The Exeter Arms is a traditionaly warm and friendly pub with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere.
I stayed in a very comfortable and well appointed double room and enjoyed a good night's sleep. The pod type tea and coffee making facilities in the room were excellent and a most welcome change from the usual cheap tea bags and instant coffee sachets found in most accommodation.
The main kitchen was closed on the night of my stay however a BBQ or fresh pizzas from the courtyard oven and grill was offered instead which was tasty and great value washed down with 1 or 3 very good real ales.
The picture of the breakfast speaks for itself, very good.
My only thought would be placemats to stop the plates from spinning!
I WILL return.
