I like scallops in general but scallops in a pie? Definitely worth trying out! My goodness, that happened to be one of the tastiest ways to eat scallops, and my colleague, a local Tassie, had a lot of praise for the calamari too. Even the salad here was out of the ordinary. I can understand why a lot of tourists stop here.

Get a table by the window, there's a great view. Commendable service and a serviceable menu. Seafood chowder was very nice, but no mussels which was odd. Quiche with salad looked tasty; reports were good. Gallery stock dwindling as the property is on the market. Warm and comfortable place to come in to from the winter rain ☔.

Best lunch, coffee and cakes in Stanley !! Had a great time in this lovely place half local souvenirs shop/half restaurant & cafe. The view is fantastic, the menu was delicious (highly recommend the Seafood Chowder, excellent!!), followed by a great homemade cake & coffee. 100% recommend on a day in Stanley, the Touchwood will help you recover in the best way possible after a quick climb to the Nut !

Before going to conquer the intimidating Zigzag Track up to The Nut, stop and fuel up with a wholesome lunch at the humble Touchwood Cafe. Just by sitting down, the presence of local bonds strongly emanates from the servers and their hospitality. Our order arrived in a jiffy and I wished I had taken my time with eating because it vanished before I could relish in how fantastic it was. The steak sandwich showed why it earned its place on the specials menu with a pile of fresh toppings pinned underneath soft Turkish bread. The perfectly toasted loaf and the bed of spinach was an excellent foundation to absorb the precious juices from the tomatoes and steak. Such careful attention to the composition of the sandwich made each bite compact with bold flavour. Despite the steak being well done, it was surprisingly tender where the meatiness became the pillar for the other accompaniments to stand on. Even their onion rings shine outside of the sandwich and are done the best way you possibly can: Fried crispy thin with a divine caramelised sweetness. Of course, we couldn't leave Tasmania without having a classic scallop pie and Touchwood put its renown on display. We got the scallop mornay pie that was filled with a creamy ocean of seafood. The small scallops and prawn were so tender that they diffuse into the decadent mornay which could use more cheese. While the top of the pie is light and puffy, the pastry base can be too thick and hard to swallow if not paired with a good amount of filling. It is best that the pie crust remains flaky through and through. But it wasn't just the scallop pie that piqued my interest. The side salad was the most elegant I've seen and tasted gorgeous like its modest looks. Those spirals of beetroot and carrot may be the best scenery that Stanley has been hiding all this time. Have a small township cafe teach you how to make appetising food with simple ingredients. No ostentatious plating, no skimpy portions, just the benchmark delicious at Touchwood Cafe!

Great little cafe with a tremendous view! The service was friendly and heartwarming, and the food had a fantastic homemade vibe to it. Sadly most cafes don’t have many sweets these days but this place had lots of cakes and treat all made on site. Also do try their The Nut scones. They’re big and fluffy.

Was absolutely delighted by this little gem. The food is absolutely delicious. My chowder was too die for. Fresh local seafood in a not too heavy broth. The staff is friendly and most helpful. Then there is the magnificent view. Worth checking out.

Tried their coffee and it's honestly not too bad! The place has a good vibe and the windows that overview the city are just perfect ✨ there's a little gallery that sells local products too. We couldn't find the entrance at first, but walk into the alley and you'll see the cute shopfront!
