I had a surprise Birthday lunch at the Crown today and I have to say, what a wonderful pub/atmosphere and staff and the food, well hubby had a BBQ rack of ribs, it was enormous but so good he ate the lot, I had the BBQ Asian Salmon and I can honestly say it's the best Salmon I have had, it was moist, tender, and flavoursome with a crispy, smokey BBQ coating. Yum! My sister in law had a taste and agreed with me. Definitely recommend 💖
We love this place! It’s a hidden gem! Absolutely best burger we’ve ever eaten! Staff are great, especially Louise, remembers our names and what we order, makes us feel very welcome!
Great place great food great staff lovely cocktails! Highly recommend.
Fantastic looking place, fantastic food, friendly staff and a very dog friendly place! Definitely go out of my way to go there again!
Very cute country pub we stopped by after a pub walk! We only ordered sandwiches off the lunch menu but they were very good, along with the fries and potato salad. Definitely hoping to sit in the nice beer garden on a sunnier day!
Booked for a special occasion. Was greeted with friendly welcome and taken to our seat. 2 adults and a child. Food was a little expensive but nice country pub so happy to pay.
Main meal came out quickly and was very very tasty. Would love to know what they do to the carrots, they were something else! Whole family enjoyed main dinner.
Unfortunately after the main course is where we was let down. Our waitress seemed to disappear (I think end of shift) but we was left waiting a very long time for dessert, eventually as had a 3 year old with me had to get up and ask at the bar.
But once ordered the dessert came over quickly, seemed like they only had 1 person serving the meals. It was not very busy in the pub.
Pub does allow dogs to roam (not a dog person so a little put off, but I understand it's a traditional country pub)
Anyways, great food, would eat again.
Just feel needs more staff to be perfect.
Always a nice meal out, we was celebrating my wife's birthday so had a lunch booking. Sadly, there are no pictures of the food. I assure you, though, it was all tip top as it always is whenever we visit. Highly recommended, huge outside seating area and plenty of parking.
Lovely to see such a thriving pub. Aside from all of the normal Sunday trade, they also had a 10 Yr old birthday party and our large party. It was heaving, but still ran well. Plenty of separate seating areas, plus the children's playground and a very cool outside screen playing a movie for the little ones. Decent sized car park with some considerate parking. Ordering food was a bit difficult, until we realised that the app wasn't working properly that day and only processing drinks orders. Ordered food at the bar, gave the lady our table number, paid and sat back down. Plenty of runners for the food and drink, and the food was very nice. Ordered a child's meal and the chicken was incredibly soft, very impressed. Next time I visit, I will not follow my satnav as it took me down a very thin country road by Frogmore Park.
Was a quiet lunchtime, sat inside. Food and service was good, will return in better weather as the outside looked amazing.
Spur of the moment disission and tasting food had by all. Fantastic service and hot tasty food to our table despite there being 10 of us. Will definitely be returning.
Country pub 5 minutes from Stevenage down a very narrow country lane. Nestled between farms and open countryside, this little delight is waiting for you with open arms.
We visited on a quiet Monday lunchtime and sat in the covered garden terrace which had comfortable seating and appeared to have heaters for those chillier days( not needed fof our summer's day visit)
The food was well cooked and delicious...I had haddock and chips, others cheeseburgers and sausages humus etc. More sophisticated gastropub fayre was available.
The lady who served us was welcoming and very efficient bringing us both our food and drinks .
I can imagine imagine they get very busy at peak periods so booking would be advisable if planning a visit but the outside area is very large so I'm pretty sure you will be accommodated.
I would definitely recommend a visit.
Popped in here with my best friend and her daughter. A very welcoming place with a mouth-watering menu. We had Sticky Saugages to start then shared a pizza. Delicious. Attentive and friendly staff. Finished off by sharing a sticky toffee pudding! What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon
Great food and good service. Availability to book a table the day before which was ideal. Will definitely come back.
What a gorgeous place. Tucked away along a country road, surrounded by farmland, this is a little gem.
Has ample parking in it's own car park (easily 30 cars) and large, well maintained garden with large seating area.
Serves Doom Bar, light ales and ciders. Food is a little pricey (about £12.50 for a main and £5.00 for a side. Specials - Whole chicken is £26, steak £24).
Staff are friendly. Tea and cake on Friday mornings from 10.30am.
Dog friendly - must be kept on a lead.
Great set up here. Plenty of parking, lots of outdoor space, massive big screen. We were there for a 40th with a big group with dogs and kids. They looked after us very well
Celebrated our friends 50th wedding anniversary in one of the private function rooms, great service, they really looked after our party of over 20, lovely food, the crispy squid melted in your mouth. Definitely recommended.
Originally hesitant about the prices but adjusting to the fact that everywhere has put their prices up since covid - we had the vegan burger and the cheese burger and we equally pleased with our choices! Am not a vegan, simply lactose intolerant - and I honestly felt like I was eating a normal cheeseburger. Delicious and well worth the money. A lovely large place with quick service, use of an app to order was slick and the place has a wonderful outdoor screen should you wish to watch sport. Definitely worth the trip as its a bit off the beaten track!
Lovely open air space, big enough to accommodate several people. The Sunday roast plate was huge, with a half chicken, several roast potatoes, chipotles and vegs. Unfortunately the chicken was undercooked making us wondering whether it was healthy to eat and the pudding (according to the taste) must have been cooked in burned (or old) oil. We had to book via the app but this was not a problem and the food arrived in less than 15 minutes despite the pub was full. All in all an ok place to go.
Popped in for some dinner as we were in the neighborhood, Megan and Jodie took great care of us from the minute we walked in! Orders taken, advice given and food and drink served promptly. The food is of a high standard, and the chicken liver parfait is a must! Prices pretty reasonable, will definitely pop in again if we are in the area!
Really nice looking pub in a remote area. Ample parking. Outside beer garden is very spacious and looks onto a field with horses. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Food was delicious. Its not the cheapest but I think the food was clearly quality to justify the price.
