Decent pub, nicely located off the main road. Nice beer garden, dog friendly pub with lots of room for large groups and families. The service is fine and the staff are friendly and helpful. Good choice of tasty food.
Went here after my great aunts funeral. Staff were good and got the jobs done that we needed. However, another party next door to our function room kept letting themselves and their children run through and walk through our room which completely ruined the atmosphere
We visited for lunch in the restaurant. We were served by Sammie who was very helpful and naturally friendly. Due to a food intolerance it was difficult to find a meal without the ingredient in but Sammie was wonderful at working with the chef to help find a solution for a suitable meal. We will eat here again in future (if they don't mind us returning :) Thank you
The service is very slow, but the food is delicious. I noticed the staff were more interested in talking in the kitchen than attending the tables. I took my children to the toilet 3 times and every time I walked past they were in the kitchen laughing and joking. It took 20 minutes for them to bring a straw.
But I do want to highlight the food, it is absolutely delicious
Very nice pub with a lovely garden area, dogs allowed. They had a good selection of beer and although we didn't eat the food look tasty. Enjoyed a flyover from some old RAF and USAF planes
Couldn't find accommodation in Barnstaple when we arrived and the receptionist took our phone number and said that they were fully booked but if they had a cancellation that she would ring us, we were 10 miles away and still looking when she rang and told us the good news we turned back imededly and got booked in I want to thank everyone there for helping us, would we stay there again most definitely
Good food and friendly service. The building is well sorted too. 👌 definitely coming back.
Good service, polite and friendly. The vegan choices were yummy. Nice to have more than ice cream to choose from for a pudding.
Good range of beers, both traditional and craft, plus wines and gins ect. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. I had the sea bass risotto with scallops - well balanced flavours. Apparently the burger was excellent as was the hunters chicken, so all in all, recommended. Also, dog friendly, which was good, as we had one!
Good base to travel into Cornwall.
Instow is not far and one of my favourite places to walk the dogs on the beach.
Room was comfortable shower great and overall no complaints.
Staff at the Cedars are fabulous very friendly and very helpful at all time especially the assistant mangeress and the lovely Kiyler.
Even better that the dogs are allowed everywhere except the restaurant.
Now the food steak was good no complaints but sea bass with prawns, scallops in a pea rissoto was dire just tasted of peas my hubby and son were well disappointed.
Also the breakfast wasn't great Luke warm English Breakfast cold bacon sandwich and lukewarm coffee felt the staff at breakfast could of done with more help as bread for toast needed topping up as did the pastries and they couldn't be in 2 places at once serving customers and trying to top everything up really felt for them.
A big thankyou to V on reception she is absolutely fabulous and a real asset to the Greene King family.
Can't wait to return as it still ticks all my boxes apart from a few hiccups with the food.
Keep up the great team work.
Living reasonably locally we are always keen to find new venues for a meal out and on occasion entertainment. This occasion we came for a meal and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the prices for it. Set in lovely grounds with decent parking this is a must go place for us in the future
Nice pub with really helpful friendly staff. Rooms are nice. Location is pretty good you can walk along the river to Barnstaple in around half an hour
