I'll be brutally honest: I went in not expecting much. I am not a stranger to battlefields and though I do love history, we all know that battlefields can be a bit boring.
Not this one! Like Culloden, they offer both the English and Scottish viewpoints (which I love). They share this via 2 historical 3D figures, before moving you into a room with a 360° 3D video about the preparations of, and the events leading up to, the battle itself. Once you're done there, you go into a room with an interactive map. Your group is divided into English and Scottish soldiers and you are given control of a division. They then allow you to recreate the battle according to your own strategies. This gets even the most disinterested person into it! (I'd like to point out today that it was my archers that I had moved to the highest ground today that allowed for the English to win this time around!)
The guide who worked with us through the battle strategy game was excellent. He was super knowledgeable and had that biting sense of humor we all know and love Scotland for.
After that, we were able to go into a room with period costumes and dress as knights (including chainmail). The giftshop and the cafe were also very nice.
I'd definitely go back again!
I went with my husband and two boys (5 & 11), I wasn't sure my youngest would enjoy this, or even pay attention but he did. The 3d experience was brilliant and very well laid out and our guide was great at giving us the history and making us feel involved. The final battle was very thought provoking and my sons who were kings on opposite sides thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The shop and café were well stocked and reasonably priced. The area where you can try on the armour and weapons was good too and the guide was able to answer any questions we had. The monument and statue are a must see. Overall I would highly recommend this place as a great day out with very helpful and friendly staff.
Amazing place! Went here for a P5/6 trip and couldn't recommend it enough, very educational if your doing Scottish wars off independence.
Kids loved every minute of it and I'm sure we will be back. X 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great place with stunning visual displays and excellent descriptive staff who embellish the whole experience. A must see
Vastly improved from what was there before - a great 3D experience to get a good sense of the battle and weapons, then a strategy game with recreated map to have your own version of the battle, place to dress up in the gear, we also did archery (probably not always available) and there's a good cafe and kids play area and space outside for a dander - good day out.
Fantastic day out for kids. Interactive re enactment of the battle and 3D displays. Our guide was superb and made it really fun. Highly recommend!
Brilant we place visit, you can really get the scene of the history of the place...
A great place where Robert Bruce the king of Scotland defeated the English when the odds were 5 to 1
A very interesting 3D show and interactive battle field was great fun. The battle field area outside was very well laid out so you got a idea of the area after the show it also is a great area for dogs. The staff are very friendly a great visit.
On Saturday I asked my 5yr old Grandson where do you fancy going today? I should have known not to ask..why gran my special place the Brucie so I can dress up. He just loves up here visiting the centre and Brucie himself. The staff are always patient with him and he has so much fun. We brought my brother along as he had never been and he also enjoyed the Bannockburn Experience although my grandson was not talking to him after the battle as my bro got Brucie killed and you can guess who Brucie was..lol x

Great visit. Knowledgeable guides and friendly atmosphere. 3D effects are engaging for kids and adults alike.
It was the best value for money I had in a few years and was very educational my grandson loved it
Just amazing! Well worth a visit for both adults and children! Do the interactive tour - it's immersive and fascinating history!!
Great experience. The 3D episode was most memorable. One of the best days ever.
Absolutely stunned to see such negative reviews of this fantastic place!
We're just home from a thoroughly enjoyable day. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, especially our guide who was informative and funny at the same time, he was a great storyteller! The 3D battle at the end was amazing, really tense!
Can't comment on the cafe as we went into Stirling for lunch but looked clean and bright.
All in all, an amazing day. Thanks so much!
Me and my family loved it. Very interesting for all ages. The films in 3D were excellent and the Battle room was fantastic. The man who talked us through how the battle panned out was very knowledgeable. The statue of Robert the Bruce and stunning views across to Stirling Castle really made it worthwhile. Brilliant
Visited with my husband, who is English and my two children. Very knowledgeable guide. In the battle, my husband and son ended up on the English side and my daughter and I were on the Scottish. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3D exhibition and the battle. Well worth a visit.
Very nice place to visit, lots of things to kids to do and adults alike. Cafe does a lovely latte and offers a great choice of cakes.
Great place and you get to have a battle as well
Had an amazing visit, thank you for your customer service.
Great day out, well worth a visit and the interative battle is great fun
There really is nothing else like this anywhere in the country. A must visit.
Such a great experience, really enjoyed trying out the armour and weapons but my favourite bit was the interactive battle!
Fab family day out! This is our second time visiting & we will be back again. A great way for both kids & adults to learn about Scottish history. My two sons enjoyed the Battle Room with one playing Edward II and the other Robert the Bruce! Our BattleMaster was brill!
We arrived as the centre was closing so we didn’t get in. Great free car park. Well maintained paths to the monuments. Lots of information boards cover the area and give a good insight into the battle, they stir the imagination, well thought out.
It’s a popular place for dog walking and would be nice for a picnic with the children.
Can’t wait to come back for a full day visit with a re-enactment.
Had a great visit here at the museum and visitor centre. Outside the building they have a large statue of Robert the Bruce. Inside, the visitor centre has a very interactive exhibits with knowledgeable guide staff. Especially like their digital demonstrations inside. There is also a gift store and a mini restaurant/cafe inside.
Great stop over. You can book a tour online, which I recommend. You can walk the grounds for free. This is where the jacobites won against the English. It was led by Robert the Bruce, who was then made King.
Lovely place to visit, with a huge park.
The centre itself has a guide that takes you through the history. A chance to dress up with helmets, swords and shields. Nice cafe and gift shop. Lots of informative boards in the park describing the battle.
Huge statue of Robert the Bruce in the grounds, and a monument that they shut the day before we visited, sadly, as it was unsafe, which was a shame, but we'll be back to visit the next time we are in Scotland.
Very educational, gives you an insight of the great battle! Lasts an hour and you're free to walk the outdoor grounds thereafter. Awesome views.
Fab place to visit!!
Will take 1-2 hours. You only need to pay for the guided tour, which I would recommend. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic. Very family friendly (even teenagers)
Of you get the chance, go see it.
Awesome battlefield site. We did not have the time to stay for the tour, but were pleasantly surprised to find that access to the battlefield and monuments was free. Great site that’s easy to walk and see! Super friendly staff!
They have done a great job of maintaining a clean, well manicured memorial and center. We didn't do a guided tour, but enjoyed walking among the memories ourselves.
The interactive tour displays the events in great detail. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. A must if you are in the area.
Awesome tour guide . Very interesting history. Changed a bitty since our last visit. Still a must see for all tourist and Patriots of Scotland. Even bout a cuddly Highland coo.

A wonderful insight into an important part of Scottish history. The installation within the monument is hauntingly beautiful and creates a special atmosphere. A great visitor centre with good parking facilities. All wheelchair accessible and easy for anyone with any mobility issues. Very helpful and informative staff.
Very cool place to visit, if you are into Scottish history! Not too much information as you wander around, but just enough to keep you interested.
Shame about the sagging wooden structure.... :(
Well laid out paths and Intractive boards outside. This area is free. The experience is very reasonably priced and well worth the money. Takes about 1 hour for the guided tour. Very high tech and modern but well done. Website says to buy tickets online up to 24hours in advance, but you can pay at the door which is not advertised.
Lovely well maintained grounds. They also allow you to use their costumes to dress up in.
A BRILLIANT experience! I thoroughly recommend booking on a tour through the Visitor Centre if you can. Our guide was funny, informative & interesting. The displays within the visitors centre are really good & we also enjoyed exploring outside & finding out more about the Battle of Bannockburn, Robert the Bruce & King Edward II.
Arrived on spec to visit at 11:00 but would have had to wait until after 13:00 to take the guided tour and exhibition so would recommend booking in advance if you want the full experience. The public displays are limited but interesting and the battlefield statues and sculptures are interesting. The cafe has a wide selection of food and drink at the expected tourist prices.
Absolutely fantastic history tour. Really informative, our guide cal was so knowledgeable and friendly. The experience was interactive and interesting, we learned so much and had fun. Great value for money too only 7.5 pound for an adult for a 1hr tour. Interesting for children and adults, would recommend to anyone!
Really should have visited before. Great place to visit to understand part of Scotland's history.
A brilliant area to have a lovely walk with stunning scenery around the area. Fabulous statues from Scottish history & amazing information boards everywhere to learn more about the battle of Bannockburn & how Robert The Bruce & his men defeated the English. For me, I felt a sense of calm walking around the area & was absorbed in all the facts about this battle. There is a lovely wee gift shop selling the usual Scottish gifts & some items are reasonably priced. There is a restaurant/cafe on site but I found this to be quite expensive. £3.00 for a can of coke is extremely expensive. There are no fees to walk around the area. The car park isn't very big for the size of the site. If you're interested in Scottish history, then this site is a must.
