Group of us hired the bowling green at this pub this afternoon and then followed this with meals inside. All agreed, good food, and very friendly staff. Look forward to repeating this in the future.

We went for our dinner there. Good service , food was hot and very nice. Tables were clean and no plates or glasses left on the tables. Worth a visit.

Great Hydes community pub in Heaton Norris. Nice staff and reasonably priced pub meals.
Antony Steel
Lovely pub, great food, friendly staff, nice outdoor seating area!
Geoff
Great pub especially if you want to enjoy a nice drink, traditional interior and great beer garden over looking the bowling green the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I was underwhelmed by the food

My friends and I were served a delicious buffet lunch...by attentive helpful bar staff!

Visited yesterday for lunch at around 2pm. The 2 young gentleman on shift were very friendly and accommodating. The pub is lovely and authentic and the food/drink was very nice and reasonably priced too. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Visited this afternoon for Lunch, had the hot roast beef baguette with gravy which tasted homemade to me :) was very well done. The two guys on the bar were lovely and accommodating, will return for sure.

Called in Tuesday lunch time for a couple of checky drinks. The bar staff were excellent, the drinks were spot on and at a good price, and the beef burger was one of the best burgers I have had for ages will definitely be calling back the next time I am in the area

First time dining here and it was very nice. Walked past plenty of times but never been in and today I'm glad I did. A fairly busy Saturday with lots of people in. We ordered food and it was cooked to an excellent standard. The steak and ale pie was lovely. Prices reasonable especially the 2 mains for £15.

Really friendly team and great Sunday lunch and a beautiful traditional village pub

First time having Sunday lunch here with mum dad and brother. Good selection of meats and the kitchen kept our choice for us as we had quite a.late booking. Pub had been v busy all day but a lovely gentleman in champion t-shirt (sorry didn't get ur name) cleaned table and set everything up nicely for us. Sam and Eamonn are excellent behind bar with good choice of wine. We will be back!

Great little outdoor area 😁

Fab little pub in a hidden spot at the end of a cobbled street. Sunday roast was absolutely delicious, staff were very friendly... a few things not exactly spot on but when staff were told they were apologetic and sorted things out straight away. Lovely bowling green at the back. We will return!

What a little gem! Friendly staff. Love the simple menu. 'Proper pub food'. Only food letdown were the bullet peas! Not sure about the tropical birds covering the seats. A curious contrast to the Art Deco features. Would definitely go again 😊

Always good service from the staff who are happy to help, a wide selection of different drinks available and lovely food at a great price! Couldn't recommend enough.

Great little pub with lots of character - we had a great lunch and Chad one of the staff there could not do enough for us all.
Adele Marsh
Totally amazing staff, nice, if a little simple food. Sadly an atmosphere similar to the moon... I want to love the place, but perhaps it's the big sports TVs, the room with child soup on a Sunday, or the really bad graffiti in the ladies loos? It's ok, but not somewhere I would take my friends...

Nice pub staff veryhelp full, we hired to upstairs room for a reunion great night

The Nursery is a pub that, whilst recently having had a make over still has a foot in the past with its ornate panelled rooms. The meals they serve are good and the butties are, as they used to say was " to choke a donkey " I have used the Nurse for the last 40 years and under the new management (Chloe) it can only get better. All round, good beer and good grub and pleasant staff. Highly recommended..

*** Update. New management taken over early April 2016 so hopefully some positive changes will happen ***
*** Update*** I called to the pub just after 10:30pm on Sunday 15/5/16 and the pub was completely closed with front door shut. I don't know why this is as I thought "last orders" were supposed to be at 11:00pm on Sunday, so I walked the extra 5 minutes to The Hope on the A6 and spent my money in there instead. A Shame :-(
Comfortable pub but used to be much better and had a more lively atmosphere when they had more live bands / music on.
However, after a couple of changes of management during the last year or so, most of the live music has gone, together with the atmosphere and most of the former regular customers! The pub now seems more daytime focussed with less emphasis on the beer with a more of a 'chain pub' feel. Some of the staff are ok although service levels at the bar are not as good as they once were before the changes in management with many of the staff chatting amongst themselves, when they should be serving. The Nursery is now a bit like an 'anonymous suburban Wetherspoons'. It's also very quiet now most evenings except for the vault but I think that is just friends of the bar staff socialising....

Impromptu evening with friends and family this eve. Really lovely to go out and have friendly service from the staff who were wonderful. Thanks guys. We will def be back for the smiley, happy to help service, and the food (kids fish n chips, pulled pork flatbread, steak and onion sandwich) which hit the spot. Who doesn't want a choice of regular, fat, curly or sweet potato fries...

Bobbed in for a drink Sunday afternoon, ended up staying in the sunny beer garden for fantastic food. Great value and very kid friendly. New landlady Chloe made us all feel really welcome. Tip top!
