This is really a fantastic country I continue to find myself returning as the staff are really great and they always have good beers and ciders on tap. I haven't had their main dishes in a couple of months but had their side chips and garlic bread, chips were perfect, they have changed their garlic bread in my opinion I preferred it they way it was, it was still very nice. Parking can be tight. Seating is very good outside. There are many great walks around the area to work off the pints and food. Signal is limited which I love, they do have WiFi so your not completely cut off.

Popped in spontaneously during a walk with our dog. We were welcomed and given a table despite not having booked on a busy New Year's Day! Had a very nice Sunday roast. Thumbs up!

Used to frequent this pub as a child with my father. Thought I'd take a trip down memory lane! Sort of how I remembered it as never went inside (children weren't allowed inside in those days lol) but outside is a lovely paved garden with plenty of comfortable seating. Very dog friendly. Food was amazing!

Nice meals & great bitter. Beautiful old pub to start with. A loooong way from home sadly (Perth, Australia) or it would be a great regular spot to visit.

Had a wonderful lunch rounded off with a very yummy sweet, all washed down with a refreshing pint of fine local ale. An excellent job done by the kitchen added to the perfect pub lunch, wish I lived locally.

Fantastic location to take a brake during walking tour. Stylish pub with many tables at the front. Probably delicious menu ( unfortunately we cannot be serve on Sunday because our group was too large 30 hikers). Beer was delicious πŸ˜‹. Few parking places nearby

Beautiful food,Nice ales fantastic views great staff Not over priced. Been going here for a few years now and always loved it but unfortunately we went on Wednesday evening had a drink and left we used to go for the selection of ales on offer and of course the food, but now prices have gone up none of the fine tasty ales and the menu was shocking all based around the new outdoor pizza oven, staff not wearing gloves when preparing food ,drinks have shot up,staff don't seem to know what they are doing allover priced nothing stands out on menu so we will not be returning πŸ˜€

If you are looking for a great old English pub after a long arduous walk across the downs then look no further, the food is lovely and filling the Ale is varied and the wine never stops flowing, in the centre of the dining area is a quaint fireplace keeping all the punters happy and also plenty of seating outside There is space for 6 reasonably sized cars to park off road or you can park on the road itself if there is still space, remember to respect the local villagers. Highly recommended for lunch or just a post walk pint

Having enjoyed a few hours rambling on the downs, 8 of us stopped here for a (pre booked) Sunday lunch - it was a first time for us (having been recommended) and boy, were we not disappointed. Truely amazing - fron the pub itself, the selection of beers/gins, to the service and wow - the food! Everything was perfect and highly recommended the; Pork belly roast - sublime & crunchy crackling, Roast chicken - succulent with a well flavoured gravy, Venison stew - Rich & very, very tender. A superb pub & *highly* recommended.

Went to the Hare & Hounds for Sunday lunch and celebrate my partners birthday. The ambience was perfect and the food and service exceptional. In my opinion the best pub lunch you could ever wish for in West Sussex or Hampshire.

Spontaneous lunch stop after a walk around Kingley Vale, we sat outside plenty of seating available and had soup of the day and the whitebait dish. Very tasty hot food and nicely presented, we will return thankyou
