I was here for the bank holiday weekend. There was only two young members of staff in the front of the pub which were doing all the food orders, the drinks, serving food and condiments and clearing tables. At times the queue for a drink was almost a 10 min wait but through no fault of the staff. The management need to support these two workers they never stopped all night. I ordered a steak and when it came it was cold, I didn't complain due to not wanting to add to the workload of the two working so ate it. The management need to give the staff the support they need and not sure how they expected two young workers to be on shift in their own for a bank holiday.

We dined here quite a few times during our holiday, the food was good. ( Especially Hggis Neeps and Tatties which were far better than another restaurant which was more upmarket. ) The bonus for us was that it was truly dog friendly, unlike other restaurants that state they are, if you want to dine outside. We ate at the Custom house while staying in town for next day's ferry to Larne. Quite a few other establishments were closed, but the attractive menu would probably have drawn us in anyway. We were made very welcome, service was speedy, and staff were welcoming, competent and attentive. I chose an excellent katsu curry, and my wife a super-grain salad, washed down with a very reasonable bottle of Shiraz. All this for less than forty pounds, we were delighted!

Great food, nice selection of ales and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in Stranraer later than expected and the manager said we could still order food. What a life saver as we really didn't want takeaway food. We highly recommend this place. Well done, we will definitely be back again.

There aren't too many places to eat in Stranraer in the evening but this place is just fine.
