We had a great time at the hotel. Huge bed, lovely room, delicious food for both dinner and breakfast. What impressed us most was the willingness to assist us. Ferry cancellation raised my anxiety 100% , however, the promise of a room for a further night made me relax more. We didnt need it, just so grateful of the speed and thoughtfulness shown. Thank you. Nicely decorated interiors and stylish restaurant with excellent food and good accommodating service. Dedicated parking, Green outdoor space and a covered heated outdoor seating on the side of restaurant.
Afternoon Tea in particular is good value.

A great place, lovely location, restaurant and bar were excellent and the food was amazing. Staff were really friendly too. Unfortunately my room hadn't been modernised to the level of my friends room next door and was a little dated where as his was a lot nicer. Was clean and comfortable though and the rest of the hotel more than made up for it.

What I love about eating at the Strathaven Hotel - aside from the wonderful staff - is that they execute the basics exquisitely well. Smoked Salmon - fresh! Scrambled Eggs - fluffy! Coffee - good and strong!

First of all,Morgan is the best receptionist we have ever encountered,friendly,professional,accommodating ...the sort of person who greets you as if you've known her for years which tells you you're going to have a great time in the hotel...and we did.THE FOOD WAS GREAT,especially the beef fillet starter ,a cut above what might have been expected.Breakfast was expertly organised by Gillian and the food was really tasty.We will definitely stay here next year when we return to Scotland.Thank you.ALAN roberts (1/2)

A gem of a hotel, room was spacious & lovely with a huge comfy bed! Great location for a nice stroll into Strathaven. Want to give a mention of Gillian who was at reception to greet us on arrival, such a bubbly lovely smiley lady, nothing too much trouble. And to the receptionist who gave us a lift into town to save me the walk in heels. Will most definitely stay again! Thank you

Went here for one of their 'Frets Concerts' and decided to make a night of it by booking a room so we didn't have to drive home after the gig.
The room was nice, clean and the bed was comfy.
We added dinner and breakfast too, both of which were very good.
All the staff were really friendly and the whole place had a very relaxed non pretentious feel to it.
Also the gig was fantastic and there was loads of space in the bar and lobby for everyone to have drink afterwards and meet the bands etc.

Have you got all day?!. Lauder's is split between a dining room and the bar in a 3-star hotel. The decor is a bit dated and run down as is often typical of a small provincial hotel. The food is hot and nourishing and reasonably priced. There are often good special offers on weekdays (e.g. 2 for 1 rump steaks is typical). The significant downside is the service, which is extraordinarily slow. A wait of over 45 minutes from time of ordering is not unusual. There is something of the Fawlty Towers about the place. Advice is to go early so the premises are not under pressure from other customers. In summary this is a place to get a good reasonably priced meal, but not somewhere to take a guest you are trying to impress.
