Superb choice of beers. I managed to sample a fair few and they were all in tip top condition. A must visit for any discerning real ale drinker!

Hubby loved the choice of ales, I loved the gin choice (& served with Schweppes not an imposter! Am I the only one who doesn't like Fevertree?). Roaring fire completed the experience

Best quiz around, good well kept ale and when Nigel labels the food "spicy" then it's spicy !

I initially voted 4 stars, but after finding his ground, Nigel can definitely get 5 now. Best pub in Stroud, and one of the best in the entire County!

A must for real ale drinkers. Great choice of guest beers. The food is top-notch, very tasty, and generous portions. At a reasonable price. Also, child - and dog friendly ( well behaved, of course)

They've always got a really good selection of craft ales, but for me, I find it uncomfortable drinking there. But I like to pop in now and again. I have heard the Sunday Roast is worth trying. 🤔

Outstanding town centre pub. Top class range of beers from cask and keg and a couple of ciders. Great value food and regular live music. One of the very best pubs that I have ever visited 🏆 the Sunday roast is good and great value. The range of beers is the best in Stroud. Well worth a visit

A great find in the middle of Stroud, well worth a visit if you fancy an excellent choice of beers. It also serves a range of food at a great price and what looked like an excellent Sunday meal offer.

The Ale House was completely empty when we arrived on a weekday late evening. We were told to read off a few chalkboards for food choices. It was difficult to read and we were apprehensive. Ultimately, we decided on the Rundown Chicken upon the employee's suggestion. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The creamy coconut sauce had a slight heat and the chicken thighs were quite tender with yummy brown rice. We greatly enjoyed the pear cider we had as well. The only thing that upset us was when we warmed up our leftovers the next day the scotch bonnet peppers had soaked in so much the food was impossible to eat. All to say, maybe split a Rundown Chicken because it should not be wasted but the portion was huge!

Wonderful ale house. It has the best selection of beer you could imagine. Literally something for everyone. Good that they serve 1/3 pints so you can try lots of different beers. If I'm ever back in Stroud I will make sure this is top of the itinerary. Brilliant

Fantastic range of ales and the curry was delicious. Dylan the bar man was very friendly and helpful too. We enjoyed playing billiards (badly), would recommend The Ale House.

Nice place , good Ale choice ( I should hope so with a name like this ! ) rather pricey at £ 10.50 for 2 halfs of ( standard strength ) ale & a G & T ! ( Its Stroud not London ) . We went when Stroud Wassail was on & a full pub with 20 or so Morris dancers signing & playing made it a fantastic atmosphere .

Large restored Victorian pub with friendly staff and impressive range of beers. Toilets are upstairs but a "radar key" disabled toilet is available on the ground floor. Steps up to the entrance but disabled friendly. Two large rooms with smaller ante-room off the main bar. Very comfortable and well-appointed pub, gold stars all round !!
